Vadxx Questions ????

My main take-away from the meeting last night was that this could be a bona-fide recycling operation - but why this location East 79th and St. Clair???

Some of you may have missed the Plain Dealer's glowing review of fake-environmentalist Rich Cochran at the Western Reserve Land Conservancy (also home to REALNEO's favorite Cuyahoga County crook)--

Recording the Story of Northeast Ohio

Submitted by lmcshane on Sat, 12/29/2012 - 13:16.

REALNEO has been a difficult experiment, but I hope that a national organization, maybe even the Library of Congress, decides that it is a site worthy of preservation.  We are undergoing a difficult time in our world history as technology changes our perception of reality and changes how our society operates. I really wish that there was a better way of recording the zeitgeist of our times.  How many blogs and digital content will survive and be recorded as books preserve our stories?

Walk, ride and get out

Submitted by lmcshane on Sun, 12/16/2012 - 20:54.

Life goes on.  The city continues to move.  Yesterday,  it was sunny and warm.  I was able to take the train to University Circle, and to swim at CWRU.  And, then I walked along the empty bike lane that runs up Fairhill through the Doan Brook watershed.  Flags were at half-staff at the Baldwin Water Plant.  Shaker Square was decked out for the holidays.

There is gross misuse of federal funds.  City of Cleveland provides incentives to corporate interests and developers but does not help communities retain services and allows use of federal monies to destroy historical fabric of a neighborhood.

So, regardless of whether the levy passes, we will see a state-appointed commission take the helm of Cleveland schools as soon as January.

Uptown aka Greater University Circle

It was great to have today off --and to do two things I love to do--swim and eat.  I have a CWRU family connection and use of the pool there.  And, I love the days I get to visit the campus and relive the college milieu.

Journalism or Propaganda ??? Your $$$

Submitted by lmcshane on Wed, 10/03/2012 - 17:33.

In a rare show of common sense, the Plain Dealer actually heeded the comments posted to a story:

http://www.cleveland.com/metro/index.ssf/2012/09/clevelands_glut_of_vaca...

When this came out--I felt the usual nausea: the Plain Dealer printing propaganda to support the Land Bank, though the numbers were so obviously bogus.  I have been banned at the PD, so I rarely comment anymore.  I chocked it up to the same old...
