A lot of people need to start calling and putting pressure on the prosecutor. They are going to try and push this under the rug.
If they can get Guy to accept Sammy's lame attempt at apologizing, then they can call it settled. Letter and calls need to go to Tremont West, both Councilmen and the Prosecutor's office and if that fails, call the media - get them to ask WHY?
Maybe someone should start asking TWDC Executive Director Chris Garland why he won't take the appropriate action since he is the only one that can fire Mr. C. Maybe, it has something to do with Sammy being the TWDC Board president when Chris Garland was hired and then in turn, out of 60 applicants, Sammy was hired by his good buddy Chris Garland. You know, tit-for-tat.
After all these others applied for the job as SII Development Director, Sammy resigned as president one month PRIOR to the announcement being made for who would fill the position. Think maybe he had a clue?

Political cover-up in Cleveland , Ohio - Tremont area
An elderly and disabled man was physically and verbally attacked/assaulted by a prominent member of the community. The offender, Sammy Cantania, is an employee of Tremont West Development Corporation. The elderly victim, Guy Templeton Black, filed a police report and followed up with the City of Cleveland's Prosecutor's Office to file criminal charges.
The prosecutor's office has still NOT filed criminal charges for the assault that occurred over two weeks ago, and I believe the attack will be covered-up since the offender is well connected.
The assault was captured on video. Please watch the 9 minute video of an assault on an elderly, disabled man.

Also, the victim was assaulted again after this incident by a friend of the offenders. This attack is also captured on video. Note that the offender in the second attack is a Cleveland Public School teacher, Marc Dorsey.
The elderly and disabled man needs a restraining order to be protected by further assaults; however the restraining order can not be issued until criminal charges are filed.

My congratulations to Fox on being the only member of the media to cover this disgusting attack. Keep on digging for there is more. Not only has the prosecutor's office referred Mr. Black's attempt to file to a supervisor, who has never responded, others in positions that are supposed to be for the benefit of taxpayers are covering up...or sticking their heads in the sand.This is not Mr. Catania's first such outburst. It is reported he behaved the same way to a taxpayer on Thurmond; but while there were witnesses, there was no video.
Tremont Development West was sent a formal letter by the Old South Side organization, signed by 30 people in attendance calling for Mr. Catania to be fired. He was not. On a forum I saw a post that a request to Councilman Cimperman, in whose ward this took place, requesting he use his influence to insure Mr. Catania's removal was met with the reply that he has no control over the TWDC...and he handed them $140,000 in funds the next week. I'd call that a lot of influence over TWDC. And another post, among, a goodly number, was a copy of an email sent to the Mayor's Action Line requesting that he use his influence. No response, no reply to this taxpayer.
My neighbor saw this video at a softball game. My Independence optometrist was absolutely amazed when I said Sammy wasn't fired, the Councilman said he had no influence. And he hadn't even seen the video!
Mr. Catania may have skills in working with developers, owners of restaurants and bars. The post to Mayor Jackson points out that he does nothing for the taxpayer.
I fail to see how any decent person or even a fairly low down person who was not totally lost to all sense or shame could help but cry out for Sammy's removal. That is, unless he or she had a strong vested interest in his staying on the job.
Evidently, the veil has been lifted and the world can now see that Cleveland, for who will distinguish between Tremont and the rest of the area, and they probably are mostly the same, the innocent will appear as black as the guilty, that Cleveland, I say, is evidently controlled by mobsters, bully boys, gangsters, to whom such lengthy displays are normal or at least to be excused.
Who knows what your development corporation is capable of? Or your councilman? The police? The outburst was because Sammy fired a gun in Tremont, evidently in a reckless manner, my search capabilities failing me for the moment, this is from memory, something for Fox to track down, for the police didn't file the report for something like two weeks. Evidently they had to get permission first. Sammy erroneously thoughy Guy Templeton Black had said something about this, which he had not.
To whom do we cry out for redress when even a public prosecutor, presented with a copy of this video "can't make up his mind?" Corrupt also? Or just afraid?

Dear Mr. Cook:
It was recently brought to our attention that Claude L. Cornette, Jr., not only a well respected member of this community but an active member in the ultimate authority of Tremont West Development Corp. as well, was verbally attacked by TWDC paid staff SII Development Director/Project Manager Sammy R. Catania.
On or about July 16, 2009, at a public meeting near Professor Avenue, Mr. Cornett in attempting to read a short paragraph proposing support for much needed recreational facilities in the community for resident youth, Mr. Catania was not only out of line but disrespectful to a valued and respected member of this community.
Since most of us can understand and would agree that in situations such as these tempers can flare and frustrations can easily take over and become the life of the party, however, Tremont West Development Corp. is a community organization and those inside that are paid to do a job have a higher degree of professional responsibility when it comes to these matters and regardless of tempers, frustrations, etc., there is absolutly no excuse for a paid staff member calling any member of this community a racist, a fascist or a trouble maker.
This gentleman has put in many many hours of his personal time and labor at his own expense asking nothing in return to utilize his talents in making a difference to enrich our community in a way that has been neglectifully overloooked. We need others with Mr. Cornett's caliber to scope out and pick up on the missing components that are essential in making all this new development everybody is so excited about a project completed.
While Mr. Catania, even though paid, works within the organization to do good things and has accomplished a great deal in this neighborhood both for the business community and for the residential home-owners, one outburst such as this not only depletes his credibility but leaves an ugly mark on the face of Tremont West Development Corp., other staff members, committees and board members. This type of behavior also adds credibility to what many residents already believe and that is that this community organization is and does show favortism to the high-end business/development moving in and taking over this neighborhood. Regardless of whose eyes and ears he chooses to wear when going out in public, he cannot attack a member of this community just because he does not agree with the ideas or suggestion they bring to the table.
With this in mind we are asking this board to please take note and council not only Mr. Catania but all staff members to the effect that they work for this community and the members of this community should all be treated with respect. We would ask also that Mr. Cornett be not only commended for his help in the community but that he be given a formal apology in writing.

I told someone in Independence about this and TWDC and Cimperman's refusal to do anything, plus the prosecutor's sitting on his hands. He was absolutely shocked. And he hasn't seen the video!
He is active in Kiwanis or Lions or some such and the two big beanfests they have. Not to mention catholic church in Lakewood. I am hoping he will be telling everyone he knows. They will then pass it on, at least some of them, etc.

I was told the reason HUD temporarily backed off from the land bank deal was caused by Polensek, two Westown Development employees, and many others abusing the system.
HUD now has to revise their rules due to this abuse, and are in the process of doing so right now.

What do you do if all the "home" rulers are crooks and have no interest in what is best for the people who live in this God forsaken place.
A new idea has come to mind. The OSS Founders will be opening up a base office where individuals can come in and discuss their griefs and we can provide one on one support and assistance in helping them with their problems. This could include anything from filling out a heap application to writing letter and contacting government officials on their behalf.
In stead of us trying to target a broad spectrum, we will be able to tackle a number of problems at the same time. At least, it's worth a shot - trial run.
As soon as I have the office secured, I will be posting the days, hours and times. It will serve as sort of a community outreach office.

Just a little bit of difference. Chris Garland was hired as the Executive Director. Sammy was Hired by Chris Garland and the funds to pay Sammy (even though he is an employee of TWDC) were allocated by NPI.
Sammy most definitly did orchestrate his position - basically wrote it himself.
Sammy had to resign as president of the board before he could accept the Development Director position. These dots are linked by TWDC Board minutes and the 2007 SII Plan.
What needs to happen first is to get enough BOARD MEMBERS (not connected) to step up and take the responsibility of firing Chris Garland. Sammy will take care of himself.
Just about all we have sitting on the board currently are flavors of the month looking to add script to their resumes. Major part of the last group elected to the board never opens their mouth. They just sit there and let the status quo move on.
The money that went through TWDC last year was close to seven figures. Other than pouring a few driveways and installing some cheap pre-fabbed fencing in Thurman Alley, there seems to be no accounting of this money. Oh, I didn't mention they did plant a few plants here and there.
A few trees were planted in the neighborhood last summer but they were donated by Home Depot.

He is basically an employee of TWDC and it is completely up to Chris Garland as to any actions that should be taken. But since the Board made no recommendations for dismissal, Sammy's safe.

Well, recently Councilman Cimperman allocated $142,000; NPI allocated $150,000; the City of Cleveland allocated an additional $70,000; and Ward 14 Councilman Brian Cummins allocated $100,000. That covers $462,000 already. They just sponsored a fundraiser (Taste of Tremont) that charged $350.00 per vendor as an entry fee - checks made payable to TWDC.
There are numerous fundraisers through the year. They collect monies from the 2406 LLC rental properties. Some comes from other functions, events, etc. Some comes from the CDBG competitive funds, etc.
Well, where does Councilman Cimperman get the funds
he then hands on to TWDC?

Since the City of Cleveland's Prosecutor's office has NOT filed charges, Guy can not be protected by a restraining order. It has been 15 days since the assault and 10 days since Guy went to the prosecutor's office to file charges.
Guy knows what his next step is, but can not share it here. His next step, if he decides to take this route, can not be revealed to avoid another cover-up. It will be a surprise.
