Not that anyone can do anything to prevent an earthquake and tsunami...although, it is good to see that more tragedy was averted in Japan, because architects there actually considered earthquakes and impact in the designs of their buildings...

Unfortunately, the Japanese took the path of least resistance and corruption in terms of energy supply.  Nuclear energy.  The aftermath, consequences and fallout will affect us all for generations to come.
