And only submit very serious candidates you sincerily believe would be an excellent successor to Ed Hauser as Director of Office of Citizen, and who would take on the responsibility of the position.

I am definitely not interested - are you?

Jeff did not seek this nomination - he knows nothing about this - and he may turn it down. Or, with a few votes, he may take it on. I endorse Jeff.

Citizen Buster

It has a nice ring to it.... Plus he has a camera... I think it works... I can picture them saying, "Oh no  here comes Buster."  He is already doing it part time.

I would suggest the title, "Citizen's Advocate." With a title like that we might be able to get him paid. I always thought Ed should of got paid. Even if they are on the straight and narrow, someone crawling looking in cavities tends to keep those cavities clean.
In many large organizations they are aware of how they tend to leave a condeceding, oppressive, intimidating, and often a confusing feeling in the common man. So they appoint a advocate for them. Perhaps we could get Buster paid... Like the Office of Sustainablity increased the cities awareness of sustainability, citizen advocacy deserves the same legitimacy.

Let's let Buster surprise the cops at the front door to city hall. I think he deserves the fun.
You know he will have to move to the city.

Director of Office of Citizens is a regional and global job

Thanks for your second, Jon.

Speaking of City Hall, I changed the header to commemorate Jeff's prosecution for being a citizen, and his citizen's defense, about a year ago... little write up here.

Vote for jeff B!

I think the best place to put the Office of Citizens would be as a department at the County - Ed always got the most respect and support at that level... Paul Alsenas was a true friend, Jimmy D. bought him Whiskey Island, and Jimmy D. and Paul came to Ed's Funeral and more. Ed would want the office in with them... and kicking their asses.

County Department - Title would be Director. Pay should be around $84,000... although others may feel the job is worth what, say, Joe Roman or Chris Ronayne are paid. He should have an office and staff, and equipment toprotect the interests of the citizens... a few million a year, can be funded for 20 years from the sales tax collected for the MedCon, so far, which citizens never would have allowed to pass, had we been asked (a major cause of Citizen HAUSER, the First Director, Forever).

Citizen Buster

Jeff Buster has the integrity, smarts, and sense of humor needed for this important exemplar.

I nominate Jeff

I know of only one other person who is so intelligent, incorruptible and tireless in his pursuit of good.

Office of Citizen - I'll take it under advisement...

Norm and other respected nominators:

When I logged in and saw this nomination I was both honored and thrilled.   After all, here is an opportunity to follow in Citizen Hauser’s footsteps.   And walk through the same minefields Ed did here in NEO.

Of COURSE someone receiving this nomination would stretch their suspenders with a proud grin…just thinking about a job like Ed’s – with no health care, no pay, no transportation allowance, late night and early morning public meetings, having to always think cynically - followed by economic anxiety and a heart attack!

Seriously though, this “citizen” job is a lot bigger than one person.

However, I think the job is do-able because of the internet.

Realneo (and other web sites) provide a model vehicle that makes it practical and possible to organize and advance a phalanx of citizens – an unpaid vigilant volunteer counter-government – which must take actions to persuade our tax paid “elected” officials to work for all the citizens of NEO – and stop using our taxes to provide free funding for wealthy developers with the hypocritical promise that tax funds for the wealthiest, will provide a trickle down benefit for the entire region.

In the forty years I have been watching NEO – it’s always been trick(ill)UP.  (Don’t listen to me, ask Roldo!  He’s watched it a lot longer than I have.)

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The MedCON is just the most recent example - our .25% unvoted tax increase is intended to support Massachusetts citizen Chris Kennedy and the many citizens at Forest City.

Instead, the 50 million dollars already collected by the un-voted sales tax in Cuyahoga County should be leveraged against another 100 million of federal green energy infrastructure money – soon to come with the new attitude from DC -  to construct a state of the art mill to produce steel wind turbine towers.   Bids should be invited from experienced existing international and US turbine tower manufactures (South Korea really has their tower fabricating act together) to buy into and operate the new NEO facility.

That’s a plan I could get behind.

investigate the Wind Advisory Task Force, don't fund them

I'm going to call this the WindCon until I see any proof by any expert not in NEO, not paid by anyone here, and not just visited by our leadership in Europe, that we are on any short list for any of the wind industry coming here in a bigger way than it has... sales of lots of industrial components. That's cool,,, and we will get lots of turbines, along with avery other windy place... more if we legislate better.

But I believe we have wasted enough time and energy here focused on "big wind" and green-industry jobs to have built an urban food economy... or an open source technology economy... but we focus on what the foundations want us to focus on... the big industrial visions of their industrial founders, funders and boards... which takes our eyes and minds off what matters...

I'd like the Office of Citizen to conduct a complete investigation of WindCon... soon to be called WindGate.

We need this office to find the corruption and waste in the system - investigate the Wind Advisory Task Force, and make them accountable.

What do other people think?

Wind Technology

I think they should set up a wind turbine in front of you - with all of the hot air comming out of your mouth Cleveland could have free energy for years.

Identity fraud and trash

Folks like you are what keeps this community in the trash. So you are some clever, mystery jerk at an IP address of a company that probably doesn't want its employees to be trash, must less waste their time and money on the internet, unless you are paid by them, a big chem/pharm conglomerate, to screw up their communities.

I consider your identity an attempt to commit fraud - who thinks that is a crime?

is Jeleeeen totally wrong?

Jerleen may have a point there, Norm, and now you've blocked her before the fun starts.

Perhaps it was all in fun. Had the comment been leveled at me, I would first suspect one of my kids, or my spouse.

If the fraud portraying Jerleen wants to step forward

I'm not in a funny mood, and rarely am. Anyone want to have fun with me can come find me in person.

We definitely need to revise our terms, and we talked about that at the members meeting last night at Deweys... Kevin Cronin is taking the lead on legal planning. You should join the planning.

My position is anyone may have an account at realneo, which offers great benefits. One account. For one real person. We need to look at how one real person may have an alias account - intended to be know as an AKA, not KKK. We are not building a community of anonymous snipers and assholes. Bottom line is whoever I blocked has the challenge to step up - contact any of us any way they like, including setting up an honest account - and explain their behavior here, in person... not as a mystery fraud hater from afar.

Welcome, fraud. Who are you?

hunt you down and...

I remember this the next time I want to hunt you down and tell you a joke.

We've always had fun in person

Hunt me down any time! ;-)

JerleenJustice is blocked until identified

This poster created an account in another's name - actually, it appears several in several people's names - and attempted to post in that person's identity, which is the same type of fraud as stealing a credit card and using it as that person - this is a Co-Op and each member's unique identity and intellectual property have value to be protected.

I believe we should determine the value of the identity that this person attempted to steal and proceed against the fraud.

The account is blocked and so all records of its activity are frozen in time. It appears the account is for an IP address at a very large comapny, so the CIO and security departments should be able to determine exactly who created this problem.

Do other members consider this an apprpopriate response to this situation? Any other comments or suggestions?

We certainly do not want to become a cleveland.com of mysterious, racist, haters at any cost. But we must be prepared for their attacks.

Thank you norm - I really do

Thank you norm - I really do appreciate your attention to this matter.  Hopefully this will take care of the situation.  it is shameful that somebody must hide behind someone else's identity - and can't even take credit for their own opinions.

I am very passionate about my beliefs but I do feel that there is room for healthy debate and also room for the opinions of others.

Again, thank you so very much.

Jerleen1

quite appropriate, thank

quite appropriate, thank you, Norm.

Do we need to mention - this is NOT jerleen1  (Jerleen Justus) - I think Jerleen knows how to spell her own name.

DBRA, THANKS FOR THE

DBRA, THANKS FOR THE SUPPORT, BUT I THINK SOMEONE ALSO TRIED TO USE JERLEEN JUSTUS ONCE.  I NEVER POST UNDER MY LAST NAME - ALWAYS JUST JERLEEN1 - IT SHOULD BE EASILY TRACED.  I WOULD LIKE TO FIND THE SHIT - SOMETIMES IT'S NOT A JOKE - THEY CAN POST THINGS THAT CAN CAUSE PROBLEMS AND I PERSONALLY DON'T WANT ANY.  IF I WANT TO POST A JOKE - IT WILL BE UNDER MY OWN NAME.

what's the company?

Norm, I agree with discounting anonymous posters, by the way. Accountability is the price of passage, when we rear up on our hind legs to speak our piece.

Which company does this point back to?

I don't know if we should... they will probably fire him

It is easy to trace any IP address and so any site traffic - the administrator of websites can track more data than a regular user. So the administrator of realneo can track every activity here, at least back to the IP address. That IP address traffic can be analyzed further within the network assigned the address - e.g. a corporate IT analyst can sniff out just about any data they like. So I'm sure we could track down who did this. But I don't see a reason for doing that - especially since we haven't updated our terms in ages - and I don't see the need to embarrass some global enterprise that has a jerk abusing their corporate network in Cleveland (actually, more likely in Bedford).

But, if we have any more trouble from this IP address, we will certainly contact some authorities... probably starting with the security department at the company owning the IP address. And they will probably fire the person.

New identification protocol

I recommend that we, perhaps even at tomorrow's event at Dewey's - discuss a set of proposed solutions and strategies to prevent this sort of non-contributive posting. A person has always had a right to speak their mind and provide cogent and lucent (hopefully) and authentic posts. We who first joined and helped design this site, as you may notice, have all signed as themselves, and this helps one establish their respective intellectual property on the site and be rightfully credited for their ideas.

I can understand people valuing anonymity for various reasons, but we are working to create a site where people can add value and richness to a socially conscious, FOSS website that has prided itself on minimal restrictions and regulations. I think all of that can still be honored with an insistence individuals post as their authentic selves. Criticizing others isn't illegal or even discredited here, but we value constructive and meaningful criticism, that which offers reasons and support for their viewpoints, however different they may be. We are not an organization subject to groupthink and value diverse viewpoints. But we expect individuals to remain ethically consistent and treat other members with respect. Challenge and conflict is healthy, it inspires new thought and can ultimately enrich the system effort. So we should certainly discuss this tomorrow , among other member concerns and opinions.
