There are just two employees - one operating the Caterpillar dozer and one driving the Caterpillar belly dump.  The belly dump is filled to overflowing in just a few minutes.   Much of this salt gets shipped by sea to the icy parts of North America for road de-icing.

The image above shows a pattern of weathering erosion  in the stucco surface on the easterly facing vertical wall of a masonry building on Bonaire, WI. 

Stucco is applied to the wall with a trowel from a mortar hod - the mortar is loaded into a hod after the stucco is mixed in a rotary mixer or mixed in a wheelbarrow or on at flat surface.

They say that the best camera is the one you have with you.   It's true. 

Carry a camera, and you are more apt to get the images.

Like every reader, my attention is grabbed by news reports about creativity and unique events.  

Today, Google News carried a piece about the two Canadian high school fellows who sent a helium balloon with cameras to the stratisphere and then recovered the cameras.  The news media has dubbed the advanture "Lego Man in Space" because the balloon carried a Lego man holding the Canadian maple leaf flag and the on board cameras recorded images of the man/flag against the curvature of the earth.

While away time at the Cleveland Artist Foundation for an exhibit of August Biehle featuring works from his period in Zoar, Ohio.  You may be fortunate enough, as I was today, to engage in great conversation with major area art collectors.

Examining the levels of mania in any environment require the examiner to fairly and reasonably evaluate the defining normal values of the environment and all the factors of the various participants. Failure to equitably balance the concepts can result in critical mistakes and disregard for the truth. In most cases, it requires a degree to make such a diagnosis.

The public comment period concerning a draft air permit for a proposed municipal solid waste gasification plant in Cleveland has been extended to February 23, 2012.

Within a week of each other, the sun has thrown off two rounds of massive solar flares. The second, recorded on Jan. 27, was the strongest flare recorded this year and emanated from the same area as the last flare, which caused the worst solar radiation storm in eight years.WASHINGTON (AP) – The sun is bombarding Earth with radiation from the biggest solar storm in more than six years with more to come from the fast-moving eruption.The solar flare occurred at about 11 p.m. EST Sunday and will hit Earth with three different effects at three different times.
