We have all seen this scene many times, maybe even a few of us have experienced this scenario: The car in front stops short and in a split second you have smacked into the rear bumber of the car in front of yours.
No one is hurt - because it was just a bump in a bumper to bumper traffic jamb - maybe 5 miles per hour.
But your hood is bent up in a hump, your radiator is smashed into the fan - the entire front of your car - except for your front bumper - is toast.
You ride back to the tow yard in the cab of the ramp truck (image above - tow operator attaching winch cable).
Bummer!
So is that hood and radiator damage an accident?
Is there any motivation for the industrial designers to keep each model's rear bumber high and each model's front bumper low?
Mis-match.
Could it be intentional?
You cynic.
