I saw today that Novell [1] will be focusing on GNOME [2] as there Desktop Envirionment for SUSE, etc. Being a KDE [3] fan I was a little disappointed to see that. But in that same article [4], I saw a link to an item where the founder of Ubuntu [5], a Debian-based [6] distribution almost soley focused on Gnome, in fact uses Kubuntu [7], a KDE focused version of Ubuntu. And that in fact that he wanted to see Kubuntu become more mainstream [8] within the Ubuntu organization.
Having installed Kubuntu on my wife's and my sister-in-laws boxen, I am glad to see Kubuntu picking up some speed. And the "competition" between GNOME and KDE, as well as the collaboration between the two groups, is a win for everyone.
