Pennsylvania's lessons for Northeast Ohio

A little over a year ago, the Brookings Institution produced a report on Pennsylvania. The basic findings focused on the competitive disabilities created by no-growth sprawl. Learn more about the Brookings report and download the report here [1].

A coalition of business groups was not satisfied with the focus of the Brookings report. Fearing that the report would become too much of a guide for state and local policy, they commissioned their own report. They released the report this week. Read more [2]. Download a copy [3].

Both of these reports provide important guidance to Northeast Ohio. From an economic standpoint our regions are not that different. We are older industrial economies with strong legacy assets. We have a high degree of government fragmentation, and, to prosper, we will need to collaborate to compete.
