Let’s say it’s 2:30 in the morning in August in Downtown Cleveland, you are a homeless guy in your fifties named Mr. Baskin, and you are in the grassy walkway area (pictured in daytime above) behind the County Administration Building. And you’ve got to go.

I have been attending and photographing events at each end of the NEO citizen spectrum. What I mean is that I have attended Cuyahoga County Commissioner's meetings - which I would propose is one of many events at the top of what I'll define as the "civic pyramid", and I’ve gone to classes with individual citizens at the Shaker Lakes Regional Nature Center (the raccoon rabies bait story is centered around the Nature Center woods) -which I propose to define as one of many citizen events at the base, the foundation, of the "civic pyramid". Another example of an event at the top of the "civic pyramid" would be the Cuyahoga County Wind Energy Task Force meeting which was held at the Key Center September 13 and which I will post about shortly. And another example of an event at the foundation of the pyramid is instructor Donald Isom’s (on left in "Rehab is for Quiters" shirt) weekly Krump at the Heights Youth Club pictured above.
Mr. Seale addressed a crowd of several hundred at Cuyahoga Community College Saturday evening. I remember well the Black Panther Party from the 1960’s. Mr. Seale remembers it well too. Mr. Seale's visit was sponsored by the Sara J. Harper Leadership Institute. Retired Hon. J. Harper was at the podium to introduce the evening’s program.
The Cleveland Metroparks Zoo celebrates its 125th anniversary. With two Cleveland Metrohealth Campuses, two libraries (free WI-FI), a rec center, Steelyard Commons and the Cuyahoga Valley National Park within walking or biking or train distance, you would think that hotels and great restaurants would followGo figure?! (Hello Mitch Schneider--A residential inn at Steelyard Commons please! So my mom has a place to stay when she visits :)
I do have to hand it to the Ohio tourism site--Discover Ohio--nice job! Mutiple language options. SMART!

The property next to me has been for sale for over 2 years. And after a similar fruitless wait, the owner of the house two doors up just last week pulled their house back off the market. Nothing is selling in my neighborhood. In Parma – where I took the “rent to own” and “cash at closing” photos the neighborhoods are littered with empty for-sale houses. In Cleveland Heights and Shaker Heights a few houses are even being auctioned – very unusual for those suburbs. Then there’s Cleveland and East Cleveland.
As I recently saw the movie too, I was thinking that it was a good movie to inspire us to change our current over-consumption ways. This evening I ran into this article that got me thinking about change, and I thought that it had some interesting points.....

I consistently attempt to have a “positive” outlook about North East Ohio and Cleveland. I consider the substance of my posts on Realneo and affirmatively select material which I believe is conducive to improving the region. However, there can be a problem with this self steered Polly Anna editorial policy . Always looking at the bright side might be just perpetuating a lie – maybe always having a positive outlook is actually misleading people and leading others into the false belief that the region is doing ok, that the region is improving. Maybe it would be more helpful if I used my blog to accelerate failure – get to the bottom of it, get it over with and start new…

I have been following a thread on BrewedFreshDaily concerning Michael Polensek’s radical letter – and whether recreation centers might make a difference to our kids Mr. Polensek’s ward has been promising to build a youth rec center for about 17 years but can’t seem to get it done.
"I find that it is very possible to have moments where we can be wise but not smart, and conversely, smart but not wise. Likewise, we can be ignorant but not stupid, and stupid but not ignorant. The more distinctions we have, the more possibilities we see. "

My neighbor has a spectacular garden with over 600 varieties of Day Lillies. Yes, the blooms only last for one day, withering and falling off by tomorrow.

If the world hasn't caught on yet, some of the ideas I presented this weekend as exhibitor during the Ingenuity Festival held here in Downtown Cleveland have caught the distinct attention of our Pope and President, among others.. and though Mr. Bush is now under the duress-caress of a legitimate censure threat he, like so many others has to know a great thing when he sees it. Who doesn't ? The key now is to work collaboratively and cross-sectionally to manifest those ideations and innovations particularly and proactively preventative of Biblically-briefed, Catastrophe-causing and Armageddon-averting measures so we can assure a sustainable future for us all. It is my belief we have five years until a pivotal time in history, and this is indeed a Messianic age - one which is facilitated by what spiritualist Eckhart Tolle and so many others refer to as the frequency holders (Findhorn Retreat).. So perhaps polytheism returns, and we will all be gods ? . And as I jest, in part, I am simultaneously serious - this isn't enigmatically expansive, or bucolic bipolar banter but rather real and rugged rapture we're talking about!

In geologic cadence Troika Ranch developed their dark on-stage anthropology. Could also be a display of schizoid spousal personality disorder - views in a mad house. Womens' forearms definitely became homo erections; stiletto pumps – maturing desire or just vertical ambulatory evolutionary expression?

Wednesday evening Cleveland State University’s Dance Program brought “Words Alive” to the Drinko Recital Hall at CSU. Performers combined movement with music, or with dialogue.

Rush hours are abhorrent everywhere (forget inconvenience to us humans - the exhaust is killing the globe), from Boston's SouthEast"Expressway" to the Cleveland Inner Belt and "dead man's curve" (which ODOT will "fix" - right?) to the interstate 5 in LA
But here is a view of a rush hour in Cleveland that is really exhilarating.
