The Social Sciences Department of the Cleveland Public Library will hold their non-fiction book club discussion on Thursday, June 10, 2010 at 12:00 PM in the Social Sciences Department. We will discuss the book entitled, "Enslaved: True Stories of Modern Day Slavery, by Jesse Sage & Liora Kasten."
Today, millions of people are being held in slavery around the world. From poverty-stricken countries to affluent American suburbs, slaves toil as sweatshop workers, sex slaves, migrant workers, and domestic servants. With exposes by seven former slaves--as well as one slaveholder--from Southeast Asia, Africa, Europe, the Middle East, and the United States, this groundbreaking collection of harrowing first-hand accounts reveals how slavery continues to thrive in the twenty-first century.
This will be our final meeting before our summer break. Therefore, please join us for an enlightened book discussion. A copy of the title may be reserved or picked up in the Social Sciences Department.
Feel free to bring your lunch. Coffee and food will be provided. We look forward to seeing you there...
As always, thank you for your patronage!!!
