
City residents are encouraged to take a stand at the National Night Out Against Crime event, to be held from 5-9 p.m. Aug. 2 tuesday in the parking lot of The Home Depot in Steelyard Commons. Participants can sit inside a police cruiser, fire truck and ambulance, climb a rock wall, and receive your own NNO dog tags, courtesy of the U.S. Army.
National Night Out is designed to:
Free food and drinks will be provided, courtesy of Walmart Supercenter, City of Cleveland and Coca-Cola.
Also, participants can dunk their favorite (or least favorite) 2nd District Cleveland Police Officer for $1.
Eddie the Eagle, Binky the Clown, face painting, and more than 50 community groups, stores and restaurants will be on-site.
Live music and entertainment will be provided by Julia DeBurgos, Perlas del Caribe, Yes I CAN! Karate, Shao Lin Institute, and the Cleveland Contemporary Chinese Culture Association.
Residents are also encouraged to leave their porch lights on Aug. 2 as a well-lit neighborhood can deter crime and drug activity.
