Yesterday, Green Energy Ohio released A Wind Resource Assessment for Near-Shore Lake Erie [1] (an 89 page PDF, 9.8 MB), the results of a two year study of the winds over Lake Erie [2]. In 2005 [3], a wind monitoring [4] system was installed at Cleveland's water intake crib, 3.5miles off the shore of downtown
Cleveland. The analysis found an average wind speed [5] of 16.4 mph, the strongest ever measured in Ohio [6]. Cuyahoga County Economic Development Director Paul Oyaski says the report "lays the foundation" for the upcoming 13-month wind turbine feasibility study [7].
