Are we doing this in NEO? If we aren't, why not? I have written before about permeable asphalt, but this is permeable alley paving - in Chicago, where else? Hi Sadhu. We sure miss you here in NEO.
Since our government agencies (our tax dollar supported ODOT and municipal ordinances) don't help us here, this wiki tells you how you can take a stand against runoff and the long suffering attitude that "we don't need to conserve - we're next to an almost dead lake".
What you can do to protect our watershed. More on alternatives to solid impermeable concrete and asphalt driveways.
Sadhu in Chicago?
We LOST another BRAIN????
would we could lose a BRIAN, eh?
This is an inside joke, between Laura and me.
lost him in 2003
Check out this video and see what we lost when Chicago's mayor recruited Sadhu from the neighborhood in Cleveland. Sadhu says it all - all the things we need to be doing here in Cleveland. But we were asleep at the wheel as usual.
In Chicago the locals are being asked to Take Five for the Environment. We can do it too.
One of the most missed brains drained
That was a major move by Mayor Daley - he went after Sadhu like he was The King... and he was - gave Daley a world-class legacy and dynasty. No, our leaders didn't have the brains to foresee that and invest in keeping Sadhu here... and look what we've been stuck with in our environment since. But we have lots of stadiums.

Deputy Chief of Staff.... Chief Environmental Officer
From the City of Chicago website, which also makes a laughing stock of Cleveland by comparison, here is the progress of Sadhu, to a position where our most comparable officer is an Esquire named Silliman...

the fall of 2003
By the time Gloria and I got around to introducing ourselves to Sadhu, he was on his way. We met him at the Antiques in the Bank building in the third week of September 2003. Susan, it's a big community, these days. I'm sure that watching what Sadhu does in Chicago, with support and encouragement, we can glean a few things to do here. I had no idea they had permeable concrete--it looks like a sort of popcorn ball.
renunciation
I'm impressed, and tempted as usual to pick up and leave... Megabus to Chicago is really cheap, no? Can I bring my worms? Make camp atop a green building?
btw, he's not being true to his name...
de-worming
I'd get de-wormed before the trip. It's unbecoming to be squirming in your seat on the El.
