CommunityTAIBBI ARTICLE ON OBAMA FOUND WANTINGSubmitted by Roldo on Fri, 12/11/2009 - 17:26.
American Prospect finds a number of factual errors in Matt Taibbi’s critique of President Barack Obama’s economic record. Indeed, it calls his piece in Rolling Stone “a factual mess.”

DOES CLEVELAND REALLY NEED A GARBAGE TAX?Submitted by Roldo on Thu, 12/10/2009 - 17:07.
The flow of federal stimulus money into Cleveland makes me wonder why Mayor Frank Jackson and his merry elves at City Council need to burden residents with a garbage tax.

Jefferson Avenue - Looking west up to what is now W. 3rd. I think it was named Central at that time. That building looks to be same one still standing at the bottom of Jefferson hill.
For Frank Giglio: Demolition isnt the EndingSubmitted by jwobig on Mon, 12/07/2009 - 16:23.
My knowledge of Mr. Frank Giglio's historic property started from personal experience when living in Tremont. As I have moved to Cleveland Heights, my eyes are still focused on the events in Tremont. "Redevelopment" is a scarey word for those who live in Tremont, and need support by the City (police, fireman, and other services)... not demolition, more project housing, commercial buildings, or some other over priced townhome vomit for the imaginary flock of executives rushing into Cleveland.

ARCADE'S FAILURE POINTS TO MORE DOWNTOWN PROBLEMSSubmitted by Roldo on Mon, 12/07/2009 - 10:35.
The highly-subsidized Hyatt Regency Cleveland and the historic 1890 The Arcade “may go up for auction at a Cuyahoga County sheriff sale”, according to an article today in Crain’s Cleveland Business by Stan Bullard. Failure of the Cleveland’s architectural gem points to continued economic problems in downtown Cleveland.

Demolition efforts continueSubmitted by DesireeSchmitt on Mon, 12/07/2009 - 10:04.
I've been away for awhile because some posts were getting negative and I have been battling so many wars over the past year, I needed to insulate myself and focus. However, while attending the fundraiser for Frank yesterday, I was strongly encouraged to re-engage. The conversations yesterday were both frustraiting and encouraging. Building and Housing (B&H) is still after Tom Bell (2441-3 Professor) and myself (714-6) College. B&H seems to be striking swifter and faster than before.

Absolute Power and the Reign of TerrorSubmitted by lmcshane on Sun, 12/06/2009 - 08:42.
ODOT and the control over ODOT to determine real estate and land use in NEO has been a reign of terror and an abuse of absolute power. Whole neighborhoods and communities have been systematically wiped out. Neighbors are expendable. In the past, it was apparent that the man with absolute power was Albert S. Porter, County Engineer and Democratic Party Chair.*

Pick up the DECEMBER Plain PressSubmitted by lmcshane on Sat, 12/05/2009 - 08:33.
The front page story on the government taking of Frank Giglio's home and land should provide a compelling enough reason for our mainstream media outlet--the Plain Dealer--to investigate how government tyranny using CDC harrassment, code enforcement, demolition and the corrupt cycle of $$$ foreclosure and lien transactions has been used by the advantaged to take property from disadvantaged residents in Northeast Ohio.

Clark Avenue Bridge, Longest Span in the Country, Cleveland, Ohio ca. 1917 PostcardSubmitted by RAG on Fri, 12/04/2009 - 12:26.
Resident Advocacy Group - Tremont Clark Avenue Bridge, Longest Span in the Country, Cleveland, Ohio ca. 1917 A couple of concrete supports are still around. There are 2 at the bottom of Clark hill and Quigley. I 've heard that no one is sure who owns them. That seems odd. I think that they should be preserved in any case. For more photos follow this link.

SEN. VOINOVICH - SPEAK OUT ON GOP RACISMSubmitted by Roldo on Thu, 12/03/2009 - 17:31.
Do you think we have the right to ask Sen. George Voinovich to speak out against the ugliness of the Republican Right? I think we do. Ask him why he’s silent on this issue.

POLITICS BREEDS BITTER RACIAL STEREOTYPESubmitted by Roldo on Wed, 12/02/2009 - 11:51.
The Call & Post has always been used as a political tool. It has a great history of standing up for blacks, especially when white newspapers didn’t give a shit about blacks.

PLAIN DEALER DOESN'T WANT TO BE PAIN DEALERSubmitted by Roldo on Tue, 12/01/2009 - 18:25.
The Plain Dealer is playing games with us about “Progress.” The paper wants to make us feel good. So Good News makes for good Page One copy. It also makes for misleading information.
