I attended a military reunion recently. Thereafter; someone made a mockery of it. I thought about their idea of "what fun is?" ...and then I laughed at their pathetic (spoiled) existence as an American. To realize that there is such a lacking percentage of Americans who fail to recognize that they are a part of the problem and reasoning associated with why so many veterans commit suicide daily is the hugest sickening thing I have ever come to grips with in my life. You ungrateful, bullying jerks need your citizenship revoked. You are probably the same people who don't vote or you probably engage in chronic corrupt activity. You are the reason some of America's best people-our veterans-are homeless, cannot get employment, and are faced with constant discouragement. Our veterans are trained to be accountable in a world of unaccountable Americans. It is shameful that so many Americans work a forty hour week, but they think because someone in their lineage served the military-that they don't owe this Nation anything. It's comical to see Americans buying flags on Memorial Day and the July 4th to hide behind. It's a joke to listen to them talk about being All Americans as they switch their TV on with 200 channels to surf in the other 128 hours left in a week. (40+128=168 or 24x7=168). It's disgraceful to see their choices of fun in society which include hanging out in basement bars to obscure their failures to vote, to wear a uniform, or serve their community at large with any sense of consideration other than to "talk shit" because they have nothing positive to offer the world at large. I remember the first month I left for the military when our unit was tasked with volunteering at the Special Olympics. Not only did we volunteer to protect and defend the USA, we also served in countless capacities to support global and local missions to make America a better place. In the interim; a world of Americans have devaluated the entire purpose we serve by disdainfully and contemptuously and many times ambiguously disrespecting our service. Proud soldiers and veterans nationwide unite regularly to enjoy bonds of war, training, and service which is incomparable to a lacking American public at large. For those of you who don't understand the familial bonds that are sustained by service members and veterans around our globe; I believe you should find something bigger than yourself to be a part of and sacrifice some of your wasted time on earth giving back to your community before you attempt to violate veterans. I'd use ten dollar words to drive my point home; but at the end of the day; the simplicity is that I had lots of fun having intellectually stimulating communications, laughing at various "been there; done that" stories, and sharing a couple priceless hours honoring people who served our nation longer than some of you have been alive. Your smug attitude that disparages service at large is another reason our country is going to hell in a hand basket. Combat boots; battle dress uniforms; and ruck sacks were a part of my life for almost 10 years. Those of you who have never had the responsibility to be prepared to leave for war with a 24 hour notice certainly have never "lived" in my opinion. Having your bags ready to rock so that others can smoke a rock-is by far an exhilarating experience you may never understand. I did more before I was thirty than most of you will do in your lifetimes by and through my military service. I've travelled the globe while you enjoyed being a couch potato. As I think about the mestastic mentality that has permeated America which cultivates such disrespect for "service" at any degree; I find solace in knowing that I have had the honor of serving with some of America's best. Being encircled with those men and women; many retired; revitalized my fighting spirit, reminded me about all the amazing reasons I have served our nation selflessly, and rejuvenated my energies to continue without a bump in the road (that poor attitude of many Americans).......... Duty-Honor-Country BTW: 22 VETERANS COMMIT SUICIDE A DAY....WHAT ARE YOU DOING TO HELP A LOCAL VETERAN OR THEIR FAMILY??? http://www.forbes.com/sites/melaniehaiken/2013/02/05/22-the-number-of-veterans-who-now-commit-suicide-every-day/ FORBES ARTICLE STATES: "Almost once an hour – every 65 minutes to be precise – a military veteran commits suicide, says a new investigation by the Department of Veterans Affairs. By far the most extensive study of veteran suicides ever conducted, the report, issued Friday, examined suicide data from 1999 to 2010. The data was then compared with a previous investigation – primarily an estimation – that had been conducted over the same time period, and had found a suicide rate of 18 per day. Many of these suicides involve older veterans; 69 percent of the suicides recorded were by veterans age 50 and older. But another way to look at this is that 31 percent of these suicides were by veterans 49 and younger. In other words, by men in the prime of life."
