Is the Ohio State Fair politicized?

Oh, the joy of deep fried twinkies and the petting zoo. But how about the lack of local farms, produce and info on CSA's etc? Obviously its the OS fair so there were plenty of 'local' cattle farmers etc there, but I am wondering to what extent this event is run by big agribusiness/factory farms.... given the recent vote on animal treatment standards, which many believe has been a trojan horse allowing said interests to lock in low welfare standards for their animals.

Obviously the state fair would be a great platform for promoting sustainable agriculture, and I was surprised not to see more people out there doing just that, seems like a great way to reach a lot of people from different demographics. There were some local offerings but mostly of the local honey/ jam / maple syrup variety.

Anyhow, I know this is a Central Ohio event and not a NEO one, but I was still hoping some of you brainy people out there might know about this.

Thanks!

Elena
