I received a super cool treat  in my mailbox today.  The absolute best mail that I have ever received.

A post card dated March 25, 1914 was addressed to my house and delivered today, Jun 12, 2013.

Nearly 100 years after the post card was mailed it was finally delivered - TO ME!

The post card has the original old one cent postage stamp that was unfortunately mostly covered up with a current 33 cent postage stamp:

The post card has two dates- the original stamped date of March 25, 1914 and June 7, 2013

The card was addressed to Mrs. A. La Mont and was sent by Lenka Clayton, c/o MOCA  11400 Euclid Avenue, Cleveland, OH  44106

Written on the card , " Dear Aunt,  I hope you will have a pleasant birthday, more so than me.  Ma is very sick with pneumonia.  Her temperature was 102 1/2 last night, her pulse 6 beats better than the night before.  Come out when you can.  With Love, Ladie."

I won the antique post card lottery!!!

The sender of the post card, Lenka Clayton, c/o MOCA  11400 Euclid Avenue, Cleveland, OH  44106, is an artist for the Museum of Contemporary Art ( MOCA) .

Turns out that USPS did not wait nearly 100 years to deliver the post card.

This old post card was one of 100 pre-written & received post cards that were restamped and returned to their original recipients.

How cool is this that my address was on one of the 100 post cards!!

This really made my day.  Perfect timing to deliver me Best Wishes.

I love old post cards and feel like I won the antique post card lottery!

The card is absolutely beautiful:

Scott Catalogue # of Post Card stamp

 Hello Lily M,

Very cool receiving a 100 year old post card.    Hat tip to instigator of this centenial mailing.  I'm a little jealous...

Question, I can't quite make out the green stamp underneith the new postage.     Can you Google and find out the Scott's Catalogue #?    Would be fun to find out the value of the original cancelled stamp.   Is the stamp a 1 cent green George Washington (little value) or something else?

Best,

Jeff

One Cent George Washington - green stamp

but a HUGE personal value to me. :)

Priceless.
