Good poll - but you forgot "I'm voting with my feet"

Lead poisoning is alive and well in Cleveland

Lead poisoning is alive and well in Cleveland.

All that excessive violence in slums in NYNY up through the 1980s was the result of lead poisoning and other toxicity there then, just like our continued excessive violence here is a result of our continued toxicity and lead poisoning here.

NYNY replaced pretty much every window in the city and got their lead out and now has much lower lead poisoning and crime levels. The gangsters were the families of the most poisoned... like Connie Schultz.

And she causes more harm here than any Irish mobster here or in NYNY ever.

Where are our REPUBLICANS on REALNEO???

Hey...don't we have any really awesome republicans here on realneo to support Mr. Dolan??? That's interesting!

Perhaps the Republicans don't support Dolan

Perhaps the Republicans don't support Dolan - they don't spend their money on the family ballteam either, unless they think the team will win everything... just playing the game well is not enough.

Good Observation!

Didn't think of it that way....A guy at a gas station told me that he voted REPUBLICAN simply b/c of prolife views. That was extraordinary learning for me...as there is a huge community at large of voters who vote on that premise alone... It's like that's all they care about AND ALL THE OTHER ISSUES ARE MOOT...

I am amazed by this political system.

I consider the big global mess Republicans' fault

I've been driving cross-county the past month and the nation is a mess. Photos and reporting to come.

I consider the big national and global mess largely Republicans' fault, although Democratic sellouts share primary reponsibility... especially after the last 2 years of their rule.

I don't expect things to get better for citizens in America in the next decade... things are getting worse... so I'm inclined to elect Republicans to force them to deal with the mess they have made and to beat the shit out of them for every disaster, as they continue to fail to do the right things, making the mess worse.

Citizens will not act until the fire is burning down their houses, so bring on the fire. The faster we burn, the less pain and the sooner we may start growing healthy life again, in what ever form it may take.

LANCI?

  ?

I like the Lanci concept.

L-Mac,

I like the thought of someone taking over the reigns of Cuyahoga county that has no political experience.  It seems KL has the business knowledge to make the idiots in local governement accountable for their performance.  He had better identify the massive waste and inefficiency in the county.  I support the guy, and every other non-politician running to serve the public.  VOTE OUT ALL INCUMBENTS!!!

Regards,

Ironic that Bill Mason

Ironic that Bill Mason was behind this new county government. Now he's got the FBI on his jock bully ass.

Anyone seen any polls on the County Executive race?

Anyone seen any polls on the County Executive race? The one below finds about 40% of voters undecided.

I haven't a clue how this will vote out... I would assume Fitzgerald is still the favorite, what with the support of the Democratic machine, unions and all... Obama coming to town... but Lanci's millions should show some results... Republicans are certainly reaching for the brass ring state-wide... Independents and Greens are suddenly speaking up...

Any guesses who will come out on top?

Cuyahoga County executive race to close to call
Baldwin-Wallace poll shows dead heat between FitzGerald and Dolan.
Thursday, October 14, 2010

(Berea) - Students in a Baldwin-Wallace College political research class (POL 240: Introduction to Political Analysis) conducted a survey of 612 randomly selected registered voters in Cuyahoga County during the period of September 22 - October 1, 2010.

Professor Tom Sutton reports that in the race for the new position of Cuyahoga County Executive, Edward FitzGerald (D) has 22% and Matt Dolan (R) with 20.8%, and are in a dead heat.

Dr. Tom Sutton

The other four candidates are trailing with a combined 14.1%, 3.9% choosing ‘none of the above’, and 39.3% of voters undecided.

Independent candidates Tim McCormack and Ken Lanci have 8% and 3.6% respectively, with the others with around 1%.

Sutton says despite a call for reform and fresh faces, the public seems fixed on the major party candidates. Even though Ken Lanci has as much campaign funding as FitzGerald and Dolan, he doesn't seem to be gaining much traction.

In the races for County County Council, Sutton reports that voters are overwhelmingly undecided.

not all the candidates seem to realize that...

cuyahoga county is a body of government that is 95% service based.  only 5% of it's budget is allocated for 'economic development'.  many of these candidates should be running for mayor on their 'create more jobs' platform, not for cuyahoga county executive.

and reform?  my ass is more reformed than this new form of county government.  what a freakin' sham...

"I have lived my life by these nine words: It sounded like a good idea at the time."

Ken Lanci is the right choice!

I voted for this reform of Cuyahoga County Government so we could finally get someone that is not politically affiliated and is not a lawyer!!! This position was meant for someone like Ken Lanci. He is not a mobster and it is absurd that he was labeled as such. And he has earned each and every cent that he has made with hard work, honesty and integrity so he deserves to spend it the way in which he chooses. He not only has nice things but he also is a very generous person with his money. He has given money to just about every single charity that I have been involved in (mostly breast cancer related as I am a survivor). He believes in giving back and is a very caring person. He is a great family man and he is very supportive of all of his employees. I worked for Ken Lanci before I quit to be a stay-at-home mom. He believes in forgiveness and has always been there for his employees. It was hard leaving because it truly is an extended family working for him. Even though we are all a diverse group of people with completely different ideas and beliefs, Ken always created an environment where we were all heard. When Ken Lanci is elected, this entire county will see what a difference "one" can make!

Welcome and thanks for the independent view

Welcome and thanks for the independent view - Lanci is certainly showing well in our poll.

I'm still undecided on which Independent for County Executive - and don't give a damn about the sleazy mainstream politicians running for their lives here

Lanci and Scipione

I hope that Lanci and Scipione will continue to make a difference in NEO.  It's too bad they still have the Italian Stallion in them, or maybe it's not too bad :)

I really am grateful for their participation in this race and for the participation of David Ellison and Tim McCormack.  I also can't dislike Dolan, but Fitzgerald strikes me as arrogant and not likely to clean house in NEO.  I hope he proves my gut feeling wrong.

Don ain't going nowhere... Lanci ain't going nowhere...

It was an interesting Election... I never heard of Lanci before and never knew Don had THAT in him. Excellent initiative.

Don ain't going nowhere... Lanci ain't going nowhere... I'm sure this is just their new beginning.

Congratulations on a good battle fought well. The war has just begun.
