Lot. 1559. In 1924, after the Hilldale Giants club from Darby, Pennsylvania captured the crown in the newly established Eastern Colored League and the western powerhouse Kansas City Monarchs won out in the four-year old Negro National League. The two teams met in what was scheduled to be a best of nine series for the World's Championship. However, a 13 inning tie in the pivotal game 4, with alternating wins throughout, forced a tenth and deciding game.
