Song of a Lost Generation: Beatles "Money"

Submitted by Norm Roulet on Fri, 02/26/2010 - 23:39.

This is what the children of the post-WW2 baby-boom generation went crazy over when they were young and impressionable

In 1959, the frst hit for Motown, and in 1963, a big hit for the Beatles... these oldies fans are in their 60s+ now

Pursuit of money - what a powerful message... how'd that work out.

Paul MacCartney and some industry types got perversly rich.

Where'd the rappers get their messages... sweating with the oldies?

The best things in life are free
But you can keep them for the birds and bees
Now give me money
That's what I want
That's what I want, yeah
That's what I want

Your lovin' gives me a thrill
But your lovin' don't pay my bills
Now give me money
That's what I want
That's what I want, yeah
That's what I want

Money don't get everything it's true
What it don't get, I can't use
Now give me money
That's what I want
That's what I want, yeah
That's what I want, wah

Money don't get everything it's true
What it don't get, I can't use
Now give me money
That's what I want
That's what I want, yeah
That's what I want

Well now give me money
A lot of money
Wow, yeah, I wanna be free
Oh I want money
That's what I want
That's what I want, well
Now give me money
A lot of money
Wow, yeah, you need money
Now, give me money
That's what I want, yeah
That's what I want
