Stucco is a satisfying medium with which to work.  
First off, stucco smells good - like lime and cement (and new Levis).
Second , stucco is inexpensive and available almost everywhere around the world.
Third, stucco is versatile: you can color stucco, set rocks or tile in stucco, or paint stucco after it cures, reinforce stucco with wire, etc, etc.
Anybody who was able to play with clay as a kid can obtain good results with stucco…maybe you want to start by making a galvanized wire reinforced planter – then do your new shower stall.

I love stucco ...

I will be working with stucco this summer when we cover a remodeled portion of the back of out house. The original stucco has this great popcorn-like texture done with small round pebbles. I hope I can duplicate it.
