How to Turn Your PlayStation 3 Into a Linux PC
Thanks for the memories, Guy - I used to read Popular Science and Popular Mechanics as a kid - your post encouraged me to visit their website and I saw a cool posting on "How to Turn Your PlayStation 3 Into a Linux PC" that has great value in bridging the digital divide, as combining gaming and Linux will get PCs into more households. And this Mod uses Ubuntu - read here and below:

my irish-scot grandpa
my irish-scot grandpa read this magazine faithfully - and Organic Gardening, National Geographic, and US News and World Report.
He droppped out of school in the 8th grade to go to work as a lamp boy in the coal mines. (His family migrated from Ireland to Scotland to work in the mines then came to America.)
He took a job as a millright (fix whats broken) in the steel mills of Pittsburgh because mining was a dirty job and he was conscious of what it would do to you (my other grandpa died of black lung working the mines in Pittsburgh).
He walked the mills every day just listening to the machines because he said he could hear a machine about to break and it saved time and money to fix the problem before it broke down.
When he finally retired (actually he was sort of forced to in his late 70s) they replaced him with 2 guys with degrees.
oh - and all of his kids went on to college (sports scholarships).
he is the primary reason I am a diehard Steelers fan, I remember the thrill of watching Mean Joe Green, Franco Harris, Lynn Swan while eating Isaly's chipped chopped ham sandwiches in his living room.
and note the $3.99 price - an unusual bargain these days!
