Writers and Readers Series--FREE Sunday programs at Cleveland Public Library continue

With state budget cuts, Cleveland Public Library and libraries across Ohio have lost vital operation funding.

Despite the loss of revenue needed to cover staff costs and Sunday hours at the Cleveland Public Library, the acclaimed Writers and Readers Series will go on thanks to the endowment provided by the Founders Fund. This earmarked legacy from library lovers remains separate from the general fund.

Educators, students, parents, and families are especiallly encouraged to read together and use these author visits to plan their curriculum and book club events.

“Sunday Afternoons for Writers & Readers” Series

Jamaica Kincaid - September 22, 2009

This program is a special event and jointly sponsored by the Anisfield-Wolf Book Awards and the Baker-Nord Foundation at Case Western Reserve University. The program will be held at CWRU.

Neil Gaiman - October 4

The famed fiction writer and graphic novelist--and winner of the Newbery Award! The program will held at the Lakeshore Memorial Nottingham location.
The Graveyard Book, Anansi Boys, The Sandman series, Good Omens, The Day I Swapped My Dad for Two Goldfish, Neverwhere, American Gods, etc.

Anne Patchett - October 18

Loung Ung - November 15

A killing fields survivor, memoirist Ung is a Cambodian American human rights activist and the national spokesperson for the Campaign for a Landmine-free World.
