Tremont Art Walk Tonight--featured art of David SulikSubmitted by lmcshane on Fri, 03/11/2011 - 13:43.
03/11/2011 - 17:00 03/11/2011 - 23:00 Etc/GMT-4 David Sulik (Ohio) 1961 -
David Sulik is a traditionally trained artist who became interested in the computer and its possibilities as an art tool while establishing himself in Cleveland after graduating from The Cleveland Institute of Art in 1984 with a degree in Drawing; double minor in Painting and Silversmithing. During 2005 - 2007 he returned to school to obtain a Master degree in Digital Arts. He now creates with the computer, less restrained by the limitations of the physical world.
The representations here, inspired by current ideas about quantum physics, molecular biology, brain wave patterns, Wake Induced Lucid Dreaming and environment cognition, are developed as 2D and 3D computer models. Some are utilized in live time computer simulation animations. To achieve that, an interactive 3D program produces frame-by frame images of pre-calculated mathematical forms discoverable by the viewer during live time using a hand held radio control method.
Artist selected Frame Prints of virtual viewpoints, in the same manner that traditional artists select a view when painting a landscape, are also produced as part of an apophenia process to provoke thought and discussion.

West Side Leadership Training
I’d like to invite interested residents to a series of three leadership trainings being hosted by the West Side Leadership Collaborative in April. Some of the topics are: a presentation from the Foundation Center on grant writing, presentations on how to make meetings work, community safety, and community outreach through technology and door knocking. Tom O’Brian might also come and discuss social inclusion. Each night there will be food and it’s a great way to meet the neighbors. The trainings will be held in the basement of the Detroit Shoreway Community Development Organization’s offices at W.65th and Detroit.
There are approximately 8 slots available for residents from each west side neighborhood. Three slots have already been filled for Ohio City. If you are interested, please email me asap with your home address, and formal invitations with more information will be mailed to you.
The dates will be:
Monday, April 4th (5:30-9:00)
Monday April 11th (6:00-9:00)
Monday April 18th (6:00-9:00)
Take care,
Christina
