DISTURBANCE ALWAYS IN FRONT - NOT BEHIND - OUR INTENDED VIEW

Submitted by Jeff Buster on Mon, 05/26/2008 - 13:39.

I used to always open the window of the car when I took photos of scenes passing by.   But at 60 mph you’re apt to get your lens cap blown off.

Why not leave the window shut? And shoot right through the dirty windshield?  After all, that’s how we see it everyday.

We see our life through glints of distortion and smear.  Our flat computer screen and our TV have dirty, distorting layers between the “image” and our eye.  We have to edit everything – and mentally take out the reflected sheen and dust specks…

The air is dirty, our eye surface is soiled (we clean it every six seconds when we blink) and we have “gutter” tubes going from the corners of our eyes – draining tears and debris into our throats.

There is no clean, clear view in life.

No wonder it is difficult for us to see beyond what we intend to view.
