Only Little People pay taxes...

 Anyone remember who said the line "Only little people pay taxes" ?  I will come back to that question after you "google" the answer.  Well, evidently, the rule applies in Cuyahoga County, too.   Two politically-connected tax evaders are getting some attention this past week.  

First, the South Euclid Law Director Michael Lograsso . " The law director of 10 years is up for reappointment in January, but he said "the lien should not affect his job."  What do you say to this, since this man decides the fate of cases in South Euclid? Hmmm. 

Second, Ohio Canal Corridor Director Tim Donovan.  Donovan sits on the Cleveland City Planning Commission's Board of Zoning Appeals- a very powerful position - yet, Donovan recently lost his home due to non-payment of property taxes.  This non-payment goes back many years and the total has accrued to 16,359.18.

Back to the original question - the answer is Leona Hemsley - and she did end up serving 19 months in prison.

With all of the blatant disregard for taxpayers in Northeast Ohio - you may have missed this on-going saga in South Euclid - "Mayor" Georgine Welo deserves special attention as she is an original founding "Land Bank"  member (along with Berea Mayor Cyril Kleem) - I am going to reach out to Robert Frey to ask him to archive his content here at REALNEO.

HERE IS AN EXCERPT FROM AN ORDINANCE REQUESTED BY georgine welo AT THE LAST COUNCIL MEETING IT IS FROM ORDINANCE 15-14

 

  WHEREAS, the council of the city of South Euclid desires to ensure the housing stock of the city is maintained to the highest possible standard; and

        WHEREAS,  through the refusal to issue rental occupancy permits to those property owners with delinquent property tax balances, the housing stock of the city will be of a higher quality; and

 

 

APPARENTLY IT IS NOT GOOD FOR THE CITY TO HAVE LANDLORDS THAT OWE TAXES BUT SHE WANTS COUNCIL TO RECONFIRM HER CHOICE OF LAW DIRECTORS WITH THE FOLLOWING FINANCIAL HISTORY WITH OVER $420,000.00 IN UPAID TAXES AND BILLS IN THE LAST 15 YEARS OR SO
