Jonathon Franzen spoke at Cleveland Public Library. I confess, I haven't read his books, yet, but I will--intrigued by his title selection: Freedom and The Corrections. He spoke yesterday about guilt, shame, loyalty, and family. I felt almost as if it was a confessional. He spoke quickly and it was hard to sometimes understand his thoughts. I was glad to hear him and to go out into the sunshine, to hop on my bike, and ride into the sunset.

Big READ
I finished Franzen's Freedom and I highly recommend it as a statement of our times.
Coming off Tess d'Urberville, it was a sobering book to read. I realize that this post looks spammish. Sorry, no great revelations here. I wish that a book made sense of our crazy world, but it's never going to happen.
