Maybe not a hate crime, but a CRIME of privacy violation for sure

When we are young (and even when we are old) we are all mixed up.   In our youth (or adult-hood) we may be in conflict about our sexuality, and in our maturity (or youth) we may be in conflict about the merits of our political system.

But at whatever age we are, we don't need anyone filming and streaming our bedroom on line.

That's out. Way out. SICK.

So whether or not Dharun Ravi was pro-gay or anti-gay isn't relevant.  Mr. Ravi set up a remote activated web cam in his room mate's bedroom.  That's way, way over the line.

And caused his room mate to jump over the bridge railing.  To his death.  Terrible but a somewhat predictable outcome  of a publicly broadcast privacy invasion of a young person.  Mr. Ravi's objective was to make his room mate feel uncomfortable with himself, very uncomfortable .

He did.

That's a crime in my opinion.

And I suspect it is a crime of jealousy.

Jealousy is a motivator.
