It is great to see more progress in the growth of the art scene in the mid-town and St. Clair arts district area, with the opening of Level Three Gallery this weekend... another sign of vibrant life. I like the work of the artists I know from this group so am glad to see them situated again - some showed together at Buzz, on W. 25th, which I liked very much. I look forward to seeing this new space and their new work. So, this Friday, June 1, art and culture lovers should start with a tour through the Hough bakeries, at the Inner Circle, for Happy Hour, then head over to CIA for their opening of Design Values 2, and then to Level Three for their opening, described below. By the end of the evening, you will not have driven far, will have done lots of great, authentic Cleveland things, and had plenty of opportunites for good company, art, food and cheer.

From the Level Three Announcement:

Level Three Gallery and Showroom, the newest art space in Cleveland is located at 3635 Perkins Ave.  It is owned and curated by Marlene Forst and Gina DeSantis.  The space is also home to their studios and Forst Gallery’s frame shop.  It will house monthly exhibitions.  The opening exhibit will include their work as well as the work of Bob Peck, Bridget Ginley, and Peter Krajcovic, and Richard Cihlar.

Marlene Forst has owned and managed Forst Gallery located at Great Northern Mall for the past 16 years. She is a graduate of Bowling Green University, majoring in art education and design. She works as an abstract painter and has received numerous commissions for clients in the Cleveland area.

Gina DeSantis works as a visual merchandiser and is an instructor for Art House, a Cleveland non-profit visual art organization. She earned her M.F.A. from Kent State University in ceramics and her B.A. in Studio Art from Cleveland State University. Her work includes functional ceramics and jewelry.

Although both artists work respectively in fine art and fine craft they hope to represent a balance between the often overlapping mediums.  They both find inspiration in modern design and create art heavily saturated in color and texture.

Open: Friday, June 1st 6-10
Show dates: June 1-June 30.
And by appointment.

Artist submissions are being reviewed for upcoming shows. For more information regarding portfolio submission or gallery inquiries please visit: http://levelthreegallery.blogspot.com Or contact Gina DeSantis at artzy_grl [at] yahoo [dot] com, 440.785.5409, Or Marlene Forst at 440.666.7834.
