Dr. Butler is an international authority on minority entrepreneurship and has written many books on the topic. Dr. Butler edited a groundbreaking book entitled “Immigrant and Minority Entrepreneurship: The Continuous Rebirth of American Communities.”
In addition to editing the book, Dr. Butler also authored its chapter entitled “The Minority Community as a Natural Business Incubator.”
Dr. Butler is a Professor of Management at the University of Texas, Austin, and holds the Gale Chair in Entrepreneurship and Small Business in the Graduate School of Business and the Herb Kelleher Chair in entrepreneurship. He is also the Director of the Institute for Innovation, Creativity and Capital (IC2).
Dr. Butler was featured on WCPN 90.3 FM on February 1, 2006. As part of Making Change: Building the Region's Future, Ideastream's David Barnett produced a nice piece on minority and immigrant entrepreneurship in Cleveland. The program featured interviews with Dr. Butler, as well as with Mayor Frank Jackson and Mr. Len Calabrese.
The program addressed how Cleveland’s multicultural mix is really a source of strength for small business development. Mayor Frank Jackson commented on how minority entrepreneurship is a catalyst for urban revitalization:
"Whenever you have the ability of people able to supply goods and services to their communities… you can create wealth and quality of life”
Married to a Cleveland native, and with a strong research background on the revitalizing power of both African American and Immigrant American entrepreneurship, Dr. Butler offers a unique resource as we move forward on the discussion of minority entrepreneurship in Cleveland.
I need to be in the Front Row!
Thanks for Sharing Norm.
