The Mad Potter covers my home town
Written by: George Nemeth
Got this email from a friend who was at last night’s Midtown Brews free-for-all:
Great to see so many turn out for MTB’s last night! Great program. I started a blog about Painesville last November about the political battles over AMP Ohio and other city imposed stupidity. I did not think anyone would read it but to my surprise it’s catching on. It gives people a voice who cannot show up for council meetings or school board meetings but want to have a voice. Lots of venting going on and now trying to get a positive spin on the whole thing… I’d love to hear your comments about it. I was unhappy with the results and apparently other people didn’t like that I cut people off to make sure all the panelists got to speak as well as field more questions from different audience members–which to me is what Meet.The.Bloggers* is all about. What do you think? What’s happening Painesville?

TimFerris: I think that sometimes it’s like roller derby, and sometimes you’re jamming and sometimes jammed, and sometimes people get cut off or thrown out, but in the end the teams move forward together as groups, and everybody learns to cooperate and to give respect as it’s due and as it’s earned–there should be no adulation of idols in roller derby–or in a community conversation in America–we’re all there as community members, or as player/participants. There are no celebrities. In the same vein, for all who participate, there are no real losers in roller derby or in the MTB format–it’s just that there are different finishes, from game to game; it’s the playing of the game that’s the thing. 2. George Nemeth:...

Read the rest of the conversation. What do you think?

What do you think are valuable outcome(s) of the Midtown Brews conversations?

What is it that we need to accomplish in our conversations in NEO? In the time we spend together?
