Basically, if you LIKE an artist's work, consider buying futures in that artist's work. Give them monthly installments towards a future piece. I am doing this right now--putting money down in small installments towards a future piece.
It is my hope that CAC can find a way to formalize this type of arrangement to benefit the artist and the benefactor, but even without a formal arrangement, freeing up an artist from the mundane reality of gas, phone, electric bills and mortgage/rent--benefits every one, because the region will become recognized as a community that truly supports GREAT ART.
Art futures
This is an idea that has been tossed out-- and in some ways Cuyahoga Arts and Culture touches upon it with the discussions for an individual award:

Good idea
We both know an artist whose work I plan to buy, so I'll do it that way ;)
