JEFFERSON PARK, IN CLEVELAND, OHIO, WELCOMES THE FIRST DAY OF SUMMER, 2016!

Yesterday, Monday, June 20, 2016, the day our Cavs came home as the 2016 NBA champions, was also the first day of Summer.

It was also the longest day.

The sun rose at 5:53 a.m. and set at 9:04 p.m. giving us the longest day of the year: 15 hours and 11 minutes long.

It was also a hot day – the mercury hit a high of 89º F.

While we will probably get more hot or hotter days, the length of each day will keep on decreasing till we reach December 21 – the first day of Winter when the day will be 9 hours and 10 minutes long – the shortest day of the year.

After December 21, the days will slowly start getting longer – the longest day will again occur next June.

Nature will continue with its celestial dance for may be another 5 billion years or so when our sun is supposed to reach the end of its useful life.

Life on planet Earth, according to a recent study, is projected to end in another 2.8 billion years – when the planet will get extremely hot to support any form of life.

Meanwhile, have a happy and safe Summer.

Magnet holding plastic?

What is the deal with the red "magnet" looking gadget that seems to be holding up a piece of plastic?   Is it a toy of some sort?    Thanks for filling me in.
