CLEVELAND HEARING ON PEOPLES BUDGET PRIORITIES

Thursday, April 16
6 - 8 pm
Epiphany Catholic
Church
11901 Oakfield Avenue
(near Union and E. 120th Street)

Community organizations and
individuals are invited to prepare and give testimony (up to
3 minutes) on community needs and to propose ways in
which federal tax dollars should or should not be spent.

Oral testimony will be recorded and sent to federal elected
officials. Written statements will be copied and sent as well.

Congress holds the power of the purse. WE THE PEOPLE
must make our voices heard! For the fiscal year that begins October
1,
Congress will budget and spend $3.6 trillion (more than 4 times as
much as
the stimulus package Congress recently enacted). For many years, more
than half the Budget Congress decides each year has been going to war,
weapons systems, bases worldwide, war preparations and interest on
funds
borrowed for war. Not counting wars, the military budget expanded 40%
under President Bush. Unless THE PEOPLES' VOICES are heard, Congress
is
set to approve an even larger military budget and cuts in social
programs.

US Representatives from the Cleveland area and both US Senators from
Ohio
are being invited to attend.

FREE AND OPEN TO THE PUBLIC. ALL ARE WELCOME!
