Art of the Day: "Cleveland Vacation" by Zak Long and Erin RobinsonSubmitted by Norm Roulet on Fri, 03/07/2008 - 22:13.
At the Cleveland Institute of Art 62nd Annual Student Independent Exhibition, there is a video (or is it black and white film?) short, by Zak Long and Erin Robinson, "Cleveland Vacation", that captures the haunting tragedy of Cleveland especially well. Filmed in an historic home movie relic style, at the blighted national historic landmark Coast Guard station at Whiskey Island, with a backdrop of Lake Erie and freighters, this video is beautifully composed and edited, with a great score and sense of irony - I watched it twice today.and it is my choice for Art of the Day... a great reason to visit the CIA SIE!!! The Cleveland Institute of Art Student Independent Exhibition is one of the strongest forums on social issues in Northeast Ohio, featuring self-juried work of exceptionally creative and open artists, working in all media, saying anything and everything with art. The catalog for the show is available for purchase or free download (large PDF) online here - the video "Cleveland Vacation" is available for $20 by calling the gallery at the number below. You have one week left to see this year's show... From the CIA Website... on view through March 15. Gallery Hours are 10am-6pm Tuesday –Saturday, and 12pm-6pm on Sunday. The gallery is closed on Monday. For more information call 216-421-7000.

Artist Name Correction
Excuse me, but I am the other artist who worked on this piece and my name is ERIN Robinson, not Fran. If you are going to post information about my work, that is fine, however, be sure to have your facts straight. I expect this post to be corrected.
Positively Cleveland
The beauty of this site is the freedom you have to correct the information yourself, Erin Robinson. Norm loved your piece. Let's be happy today. The sun is shining. We tend to get angry on line or to sound angry on line.*** You can also post private messages to the authors, too. Come to the next Inner Circle meeting. We need you and others like you who communicate visually. Welcome to RealNEO :)
***You can also self-edit your own remarks.
