We are terribly spoilded in this USA.    We are spoiled because we have shipped our missery off to other places around the world.

Sure, we had our Civil War which changed the way our business's exploit labor.    Before the Civil War slaves were property which stayed at the owner's property.    Slaves didn't have mobility.

After the Civil War slaves were given mobiliity.    

But, mobility requires savings and other resources - without the savings - slaves were still slaves.

And of course, Corporations have the ultimate mobility.    Corps go to where the modern "mobile" slaves are least mobile.

Places like Bangladesh....

Target, Walmart, all the brands we love to wear....they provide "economic development" to the least mobile slave workers cuz the least mobile are the cheapest workers - cheapest because the rules we have in the USA to protect workers are not the rules Bangladesh has to protect their workers.

Great system America!

The most vulnerable will still go to work into a building which is actively cracking and crumbling - like the building in Dhaka in the strip of images in the banner above.

Deaths over 1,000 in Dhakar clothing factory collapse

Wages are cheap, and life is cheap too.   

Corporations search for this scenario.   This is the goal for corporations.   Cheap wages in a place where life is cheap too.  Best for the shareholders.  

Harvard Business School teaches how to do it.   

Not really much noise about it either, even though death toll is now over 1,000 persons.

But it has a shocking safety record and Western retailers have been threatening to pull out unless authorities come up with a credible programme to raise standards. Disney has already done so.
