Cleveland Councilman Kevin Conwell at Obama Rally with youths

"78% of the homicides in the City of Cleveland are African American Males murdering each another!" was the small print I first noticed on the flier stuck between the bars on Snag's Glenville door, when I stopped by the other day.

don't overlook the benefits of being a smaller city

Submitted by Susan Miller on Thu, 03/05/2009 - 08:42.

Smaller cities are large enough to offer the diversity, anonymity, and vibrancy of urban culture, as well as levels of density that offer efficiencies of scale. They are also small enough to maintain proximity to sustainable food production and renewable energy resources.

DrupalCon DC 2009, Day 1

Submitted by Jeff Schuler on Thu, 03/05/2009 - 00:12.

The Drupal brand of geek is to me a tasteful breed -- a nice mashup of programmers, designers, and administrators -- and those for whom these interests/skills overlap.

I've never been able to relate extremely well with the hardcore Linux kernel hackers. Folks with that incredible sort of domain-specific brilliance definitely abound in the Drupal community, but, (I may piss off said hackers to say,) the Drupal folks tend to have their heads more in this world.

You know all of us in NEO really rely on the Cleveland Cuyahoga Port Authority.  Their docks are an extremely valuable economic asset to all of us taxpayers.   Generate a lot of jobs – (thought the League of Women Voters couldn't find any substantiation for that claim last year when the Port sought a new tax levy).

Chagrin Highlands

Submitted by lmcshane on Sun, 03/01/2009 - 09:53.

In the late 1990s, then Mayor Michael White butted heads with developer Richard Jacobs, when it was discovered that Jacobs was the shadow player in the Figgie International development team.

Taxpayers footed the bill for the Harvard Ave. interchange that serves the Chagrin Highlands development, just as the taxpayers also funded the Avon interchange that also benefited Jacob Group.
