Jeff Schuler's blogGuy, PowerlessSubmitted by Jeff Schuler on Thu, 02/25/2010 - 23:23.
Questministries called me at 6pm -- said his electricity had gone out 30 minute prior, and he asked that I post here for him. He's on Cleveland Public Power: said he and Yogi had already called CPP, and also spoken with Councilman Cimperman's office -- that it was known there were folks on Professor without power, too, but that was the first they'd heard from Brayton. He reminded me that there are many elderly and handicapped in his neighborhood, and was worried that the powers-that-be weren't being...

Recent decisions about libel and anonymity on the netSubmitted by Jeff Schuler on Sun, 08/23/2009 - 21:20.
Check out Cleveland blogger Erin O'Brien's post, A beautiful comeuppance, on a Manhattan Supreme Court judge's decision to require Google to reveal the identity of a [previously anonymous] blogger found guilty of defamation, having called a semi-famous fashion model a “a psychotic, lying, whoring, still going to clubs at her age, skank.” See The First Amendment rights of anonymous defamers for a bit more on the legal precedents involved.

REALNEO: What Is and What Should Be?Submitted by Jeff Schuler on Fri, 06/19/2009 - 14:15.
lmcshane suggested a possible funding opportunity for REALNEO: a New Voices Grant through J-Lab. (Referred through The Appalachian Independent: Our Grant.)
I wonder what our ask would be? If we're going to ask for money, we need a focused proposal.

Drupal 5.18 UpgradeSubmitted by Jeff Schuler on Thu, 06/11/2009 - 03:59.
REALNEO's Drupal installation was upgraded to the most recent version in the 5.x branch early this morning, and all contributed modules as well. We were pretty far out of date, and there were a number of kinks to work out that were holding up the upgrade process, so I'm glad we're past this. Or nearly past this -- please comment here or let me know if anything doesn't seem to be working properly.

REALNEO changes web hostsSubmitted by Jeff Schuler on Mon, 05/18/2009 - 03:08.
Tonight, REALNEO moved to a new web host. If you see the location of the site as "http://linode.realneo.us", don't worry: you've got the same site, it just means that you're still being redirected through the old address. Domain name changes take time to propagate through the net, and the updates haven't yet reached your computer. (You can try clearing your DNS cache, if you're anxious, but it'll eventually pass.) If you see the normal URL, great.

A Glimpse into Drupal's Open Source ProcessSubmitted by Jeff Schuler on Wed, 03/11/2009 - 19:37.
Drupal is free and open-source software. Anybody can download, use, modify, repackage, and redistribute it (event at a price,) freely. Open source is not only key to its distribution but also its development, culture, and very nature. ( categories: )

REALNEO: Down for System Upgrade TonightSubmitted by Jeff Schuler on Thu, 03/05/2009 - 17:18.
I spoke with Robert Scales, RainCity Studios' founder and CEO, here at DrupalCon yesterday, to tell him how great the folks at Bryght, -- our host, recently acquired by RainCity -- have been.

DrupalCon DC 2009, Day 1Submitted by Jeff Schuler on Thu, 03/05/2009 - 00:12.
The Drupal brand of geek is to me a tasteful breed -- a nice mashup of programmers, designers, and administrators -- and those for whom these interests/skills overlap. I've never been able to relate extremely well with the hardcore Linux kernel hackers. Folks with that incredible sort of domain-specific brilliance definitely abound in the Drupal community, but, (I may piss off said hackers to say,) the Drupal folks tend to have their heads more in this world. tech-savvy administration?Submitted by Jeff Schuler on Sun, 02/22/2009 - 01:04.

REALNEO fonts and colorsSubmitted by Jeff Schuler on Sat, 11/22/2008 - 23:07.
I've been messing around with some ideas for a favicon for REALNEO -- the little icon that shows up next to the URL in your browser, or when you bookmark the site, etc. Don't know about anyone else, but I'd really like to see REALNEO with its own icon instead of the standard Drupal raindrop. I haven't gotten far yet, but I do believe I've hunted down the two fonts used in the logo, (heretofore a mystery, as far as I can tell.) An old logo I found: {C}

REALNEO going down for upgradeSubmitted by Jeff Schuler on Thu, 08/28/2008 - 12:04.
REALNEO.us will be going to maintenance mode very soon, for a Drupal upgrade and transfer to our new (old) host, Bryght / Raincity Studios. Please bear with us. The site should be back to (better-than-)normal within a few hours. Good things are in store!
