sidewalk bomb sniffers in Cleveland?

Submitted by Jeff Buster on Sat, 07/16/2016 - 10:13.

On various street corners in downtown Cleveland you will find these suitcase sized sniffers...plugged into the traffic light control box electric power or another power source.    5 foot high "chimney" pipes extend up from one end of the unit.  Do these units provide realtime data via cell phone or the internet?    Could we map the movement of a volatile chemical through downtown?   How much do they cost?   Who is paying?

Submitted by Jeff Buster on Thu, 06/02/2016 - 09:54.

Entire neighborhoods have been wiped out in Cleveland - what percentage of the owners were white vs black?    Did they leave the state or just leave Cleveland after their property was demolished/abandoned?

Aggressive pronouncements lead to escalation of mayhem or calm control Mr. Trump?

Submitted by Jeff Buster on Tue, 03/15/2016 - 11:21.

A few weeks back Mr. Trump at one of his round-ups announced with a smile that he "would like to punch (a person being ejected from the event) in the face!"   and went on to say that "it would be nice to see the guy go out on a stretcher".

The crowd cheered cuz they like a guy who tells it like it is - Mr. Trump.

New York City just conducted it's census of homeless people in the first half of February, 2016.   Mayor deBlasio walked down a few alleys in support of the census.    Other large metro areas across the USA also conduct their annual homeless persons census in the middle of the winter.

Bounty hunter regulatory scheme is needed

Submitted by Jeff Buster on Sun, 01/24/2016 - 11:31.

We have seen complete regulatory agency failure in 3 recent events in the USA:

Aliso Canyon gas blow-out

Flint Michigan drinking water contamination

Squibb Bridge construction design

VW emissions software fraud

When will we see this same regulatory agency failure in the nuclear arena?

Reuters reports that VW chairman Poetsch has discovered that only a "small number" of engineers was involved in designing and installing software in 11,000,000 vehicles - software designed to cheat emmissions testing and, as a result, damage our health.

Only in Ohio could we come up with this crap.    No, not the legalization of use of marijuana, but rather providing a government monopoly to 10 farms in Ohio to grow the stuff - pot.   Crazy.  Read more here at the Washington Post

First it's the phone monoplies, then the sports monopolies, then the casino monopolies and  now the pot growers monopoly.

Syrian war - Migrants the most powerful weapon

Submitted by Jeff Buster on Sun, 11/01/2015 - 13:19.
The Syrian conflict has been going on for about four and a half years.
Immigration, refugees, aliens, migrants, asylum seekers…whatever we name them, the people who are fleeing Syria towards Europe are the only force which has been able to interest countries un-involved in the Syrian conflict in trying to help resolve the conflict in Syria.

Jeff Tyler reports on homelessness in Los Angeles - but doesn't post his email address on Marketplace from where he reports

Submitted by Jeff Buster on Fri, 06/26/2015 - 19:04.

Homelessness is growing all over the country.  In Cleveland, in NYC, in Boston, in Buffalo.

The 1 % aggregating more $?

After I heard Mr. Tyler on NPR radio this evening, I was impressed by his reportage and I thought it would strengthen Mr. Tyler's determination to report on the important issue of homelessness in the USA if I contacted him and explained Cleveland, Ohio's similar homelessness issues.
