SOCIAL SUSTAINABILITY

Mayor Jackson

Today, I read about the Mayor's plan for sustainability in our fair city. He spoke well about a green city on a blue lake. What I did find interesting was how does he plan on doing this and how does he plan on sustaining our neighborhoods drowning in seas of controling, power hungry, discriminating and secretive community organizations such as CDC's, i.e. Tremont West Development Corp.

TWDC PROPOSED BY-LAW CHANGES /DISCRIMINATORY COMMITTEE STRUCTURE/ DISINFRANCHISEMENT OF MINORITIES/CONFLICTS OF INTEREST

Submitted by jerleen1 on Wed, 09/23/2009 - 23:59.

After spending a number of hours today reviewing the latest draft of TWDC proposed by-law changes, it is clear and evident that the new changes if passed will add to the already discriminatory tactics by TWDC committee structures, conflicts of interest by way of a city employees holding board seats as well as being appointed by the board to chair and co-chair permanent committees.  City employee (magistrate Lynn Murray) sits on board, appointed by  the board to chair finance committee, city council employee Katherine Bulava - board member, first vice president and co-chair of long

NO AMENDMENT PROCESS AS AFFORDED BY ROBERT'S RULES - NO VOTE

Submitted by jerleen1 on Tue, 09/22/2009 - 21:35.

There was an interesting meeting tonight at the Central Tremont Block Club.  The by-law committee reps. came to discuss proposed changes to the TWDC by-laws.

First, no one can seem to answer the question as to whether there will be an amendment process as afforded by Robert's Rules at the special meeting.  My take, no amendment process -  no vote.

Also, the new changes not so subtly shift all the power to those inside the organization - which they already have too much of.

POCKET PARK WITH A NERF BALL AND NET.....AND A FLAG

Submitted by jerleen1 on Fri, 09/18/2009 - 01:01.

Well, I guess that at the present time those of us who were hoping to get TWDC and the Long Range Planning Committee behind helping out with getting some great outdoor recreational facilities and pocket parks in the Tremont neighborhood, might just have to settle for a little spot with a nerf ball and net.

Submitted by jerleen1 on Sun, 09/13/2009 - 16:57.

Ladies start rounding up your pins and needles as well as looking for those unusual odds and ends of yard goods that will put your mark in an american quilt.

Also bring your moms and grandma, aunts, sisters, daughters, nieces, etc.  This is a simple class and everyone can sew.

REVIVAL OF WEST 8TH STREET DEVELOPMENT - CIVIC BUILDERS

Submitted by jerleen1 on Fri, 09/11/2009 - 11:26.

Hugger-Mugger channels have brought to light the possibility that Civic Builders may be in the process of reviving the West 8th (multi unit housing on a postage size lot)  Development with the help of certain community leaders by circumventing the block club process and going straight to the zoning board.

Of course, we all know this is business at the same old stand in Tremont.

"HATEMONGER" IS NEW TITLE IN COMMUNITY

Submitted by jerleen1 on Tue, 09/08/2009 - 15:45.

Today I received a call from someone I do not know informing me that my new name in the community is "Hatemonger."  This individual claimed to be my secret friend who had access to information and communications transpiring among some of those up in arms that I ask for fairness between the business owners and the residents.  I was informed that the dubbing of this title came as a result of my investigating and asking questions on the possible corruption, kickbacks and the favortism being doled out by the leadership in the neighborhood.

RESCUE RAILROAD

Submitted by jerleen1 on Sat, 09/05/2009 - 22:31.

Today I went on my first run of the Rescue Railroad.  I was invited to ride shotgun on one leg of the journey to Mansfield, Ohio and back to Cleveland with three of the original twelve little dogs that first started out on this run.  The engineer of this particular leg was Ted Thelander of Near West Neighbors in Action.

I believe that six of the canines were transported by one driver all the way to New York and the other six were divided into two groups for convenience of the transporters.

HAS THE GODFATHER OF DEVELOPMENT TAKEN OVER TREMONT WEST DEVELOPMENT CORP,

Submitted by jerleen1 on Fri, 09/04/2009 - 00:49.

Has the Godfather of community development taken over Tremont West Development Corp.  Will Catania West Development Corp. be the local community organization run by Bevis and Butthead?  While many agree that the head honcho is indeed due for a "bitch" slappin,'  others are pondering as to what the urban king of development might be whispering in the ears of fellow committee members.

POSTED SIGNS - NO TRUCKS TO GO DOWN WAST 14TH STREET

Submitted by jerleen1 on Tue, 09/01/2009 - 12:44.
NO TRUCKS PERMITTED TO GO DOWN WEST 14TH STREET

As you can clearly see, there are signs posted that no trucks are permitted to go down Weat 14th Street.  They don't care how fast they go as long as the keep going South or West 480.

The only speed signs posted are yellow caution 15mph signs - one on West 14th a couple hundred feet before you enter the roundabout and one as you come off of 176 coming North on to the roundabout.

This is the scene on the "ring of death" today.  It took big huge tow trucks and the Air Cushion Recovery System hours to get this big truck back on it's wheels.  Several police cruisers were strategically parked creating a blockade while a number of Police Officers attempted to direct the traffic roundabout the roundabout.

THEY DIED FROM COLD WITHIN

Submitted by jerleen1 on Mon, 08/31/2009 - 11:54.

This is an old poem that I found in the newspaper years ago.  The author is unknown:

THE COLD WITHIN

Six humans trapped in happenstance, In dark and bitter cold, Each one possessed a stick of wood, or so the story's told.

Their dying fire in need of logs, The first woman held hers back, For of the faces around the fire, She noticed one was black.

The next man looking across the way, Saw not one of his church, And couldn't bring himself to give, The fire his stick of birch,

REQUIRED DRUG TESTING FOR EMPLOYEES AND STAFF MEMBERS OF NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATIONS?

Submitted by jerleen1 on Wed, 08/26/2009 - 21:02.

Many companies especially social institutions that deal with the public require representatives, staff and employees to take periodic drug tests.  With the many CDC's and non profit community organizations in the City of Cleveland,  why have they been skipped over when it comes to peeing in a cup.

Certain recognizable actions are tale tale signs that drug usage could be on the rise inside some of these establishments throughout the city.

ARE BIG TIME DEVELOPERS IN TREMONT ALREADY GOING BANKRUPT?

Submitted by jerleen1 on Wed, 08/26/2009 - 10:18.

In checking the Court Docket today, it seems that several new foreclosure cases have been filed by National City Bank against Tremont's Lori Properties, Inc., (West 6th and West 5th Street high-end condos owned by developer Sammy Catania and built by Sutton Builders).  CV-09-686026 - $91,811.51

TWDC's own Development Director, Roberta Rocco and Catania Investments, Inc., will be spending time before Judge Joan Synenberg since National City Bank is taking back the West 6th Street vacant lot property too, to the tune of $85,869.51 - filed 8/13/09.

WARD 14 ACTIVIST HENRY SENYAK FILLS TWDC BOARD VACANCY

Submitted by jerleen1 on Thu, 08/20/2009 - 22:30.

At approximately 6:10pm this evening, Ward 14 Tremonter Activist Henry Senyak was chosen (elected) to fill the vacant seat on the Tremont West Development Corp., Board of Directors.

This momentous occurrence unfolded  during a TWDC Board meeting this evening wherein no discussions took place prior to the election.  The nine voting members present,  hastely waiting to fill the empty black chair, agreed to "get on with it" and mark their ballots (I believe it was on stick-em name tags).

Photo taken from the Breaks Interstate Park overlooking the Virginia and Kentucky State Line.

"The name "Breaks" was derived from the break in Pine Mt. created by the Russell Fork of the Big Sandy River as it carved a 1000 ft deep gorge on it's way to join the Ohio River.  A work of nature often called "The Grand Canyon of the South."
