VALET ZONES IN TREMONT CAUSE POSSIBLE DELAYS FOR EMERGENCY CREWSSubmitted by jerleen1 on February 16, 2010 - 11:38am.
Henry and Others,
While there have been a number of suggestions and ideas tossed out on how and by what committee the parking/valet problems should be handled, no doubt the traffic congestion created by too many Valet Zones obstructing the intersections and blocking the driving lanes in Tremont is creating a serious safety problem.
As far as the complaining goes, I dare say that the need for a fire truck or an ambulance be

TWDC'S NEW PROPOSED BY-LAW AND ARTICLES OF INCORPORATION DID NOT MAKE THE GRADESubmitted by jerleen1 on January 29, 2010 - 6:24pm.
The Tremont West Development Corp. (TWDC) Annual Membership/Election of new board members meeting went off last night without incident. It was the second meeting in two months calling for members to vote in favor of the proposed changes to the by-laws and Articles of Incorporation. When quorum was not obtained at the special meeting held in November, TWDC staff and board members worked dilligently at purging a few hundred names from the membership list. This lowered the number of members currently registered to approximately 517. ( categories: )

TREMONT WEST DEVELOPMENT CORP. INSIDERS SLASH MEMBERSHIP LIST TO ATTAIN QUORUMSubmitted by jerleen1 on December 16, 2009 - 1:36am.
At the January 2009, Annual Membership meeting, TWDC's Board President stood at the pulpit and with a straight face reverently promised transparancy - clear, frank and candid openness to the (ultimate authority) members they were elected to serve. For many years, people who lived or worked in Tremont and attend a block club or other constituent group meeting or filled out a registration card at the TWDC office, have been bona fide members of the Tremont West Development Corp.

TREMONT'S MOST ABUSED LITTLE SIGN NOW STANDS TALL AND BACK IN IT'S PROPER PLACESubmitted by jerleen1 on November 20, 2009 - 1:11pm.
Tremont's little sign that was severed by hacksawers and dropped into an orphan hole is now standing proud and tall back in it's proper place. We owe many thanks to everyone who put forth so much effort enforcing the law in dealing with the hacksawer and his whack job. Question is, will the scandalous whacker and his saws-all strike again?

TREMONT WEST DEVELOPMENT CORP. - TREMONT'S FINEST - WHO'S THE DUMMY NOWSubmitted by jerleen1 on November 17, 2009 - 12:13pm.
For a couple of years, Tremont West Development Corp., Executive Director Chris Garland has refused the request of intersted parties to allow anyone to view only the names of the membership list, boasting a 900 plus active enrollment. At the Nov. 11, 2009 special meeting, they did not make quorum and rumor has it that they are now planning on purging this membership list prior to the Annual meeting in January to reduce the required percentage number for making quorum in hopes of sidestepping, yet, another embarassment.

A PILLOW FOR GUY - GUY AND YOGI - TWO OF TREMONTS BRIGHEST STARSSubmitted by jerleen1 on November 14, 2009 - 3:51pm.
Well, Guy won't find any minute listening devices inside this pillow but maybe it will serve as a small reminder that he and Yogi are two of Tremont's shinning stars. Whether they took your pillows or not Guy, here's one you'll remember. It's a tribute to your run for the TWDC Board last year and the story we got out in the December issue of the Plain Press. Jeff, I was unsuccessful in posting with the proper topic - so maybe I did follow instruction very well.

I just finished making two sets of these quilted pillows to send to two of my uncles that live back in a hollow of the Virginia Hills. I wanted to post them next to Jeff's deer photo but I don't know how to do that so I had to do it this way.

HACKSAWERS ON THE LOOSE AGAIN IN TREMONT - PARKING REGULATOR SIGNS SHORTENED AND MOVEDSubmitted by jerleen1 on November 6, 2009 - 1:34pm.
The mysterious hacksawers have struck again. Right in plain veiw out the window of the Treehouse on the corner of Professor and College they whacked off a green pole that boasted a "no parking from here to the corner" sign and re-deposited it about three yards forward and several feet shorter. The white sign which is now near the stop sign was once where the white spot of concrete is now.

TOW-PATH - SIDEWALKS UNSAFE NEAR TREMONT WEST 14TH ST. ROUND-ABOUTSubmitted by jerleen1 on October 31, 2009 - 1:27am.
A section of the bicycle trail and sidewalks come up the hill from Steelyard Commons and joins the West 14th Street Round-About. In view of the number of accidents, specifically the number of semi's along with their monsterous loads that keep flipping over and onto the sidewalks, should pedestrians or cyclists feel safe in traveling these paths. Since there are no warning signs before a big truck flips, these haulers of such heavy loads put pedestrians and cyclists in the vicinity of this circle at a much greater risk. ( categories: )
WEST 14TH ST. ROUND-ABOUT, ANOTHER SEMI-ANOTHER SNAPPED LIGHT POLE, AND ONE LUCKY DRIVER, THANKS TO A COUPLE "GOOD OLE BOYS"Submitted by jerleen1 on October 30, 2009 - 10:53pm.
The Tremont West 14th Street night sky was lit up tonight with flashing police strobes, flares, fire department, emergency crews, cautionary beacons streaking through the darkness as they all worked earnestly directing traffic, securing the perimeter, keeping on-lookers at bay and maintaining control on the scene of yet another semi-tractor trailer and it's load lying on the sidewalk in the much dreaded Round-about.

TWDC AGENDA - MISSING QUORUM CALL AND MEETING CALL TO ORDER FOR NOEVEMBER 11Submitted by jerleen1 on October 27, 2009 - 9:41pm.
I'm sure that many of you by now have received your white envelope from Tremont West with your membership information with regard to the special meeting on Nov. 11. I found a number of issues that concern me in this little packet. First one, even before I opened the envelope. Mine had two lables on it. Did TWDC violate their by-laws by giving me another members name. ( categories: )
OSS RESIDENT COMPLAINTS - PRODUCES BUSINESS OWNERS PARTICIPATION IN WILLINGNESS TO TRYSubmitted by jerleen1 on October 24, 2009 - 11:11am.
Again, it seems that somebody had their ears on at the OSS meeting last Monday night. This morning I arose to find Treehouse business owner Tom Leneghan and Jason Beudert on College Avenue with a truck load of orange cones, yellow tape and laminated signs stating "Tremont Resident Parking Only." They were attempting to block off street parking for residents before the bar's sports patrons began arriving.
