Submitted by Jeff Buster on Tue, 09/08/2009 - 12:12.

n taylor at Euclic july 09 jeff buster image

There are thousands of structures like this in NEO.   We don't even notice them anymore.   This one has a nice slate roof, and oh, did I mention the wrap around porch?.

Here come's my bus, got to go....to a sustainability lecture...I think the topic is embedded, ah, emedded apathy?  no, that's not right.. .

What's your Chappaquiddick?

Submitted by Jeff Buster on Sun, 09/06/2009 - 10:47.

To some degree or the other, we all have a Chappaquiddick in our lives - a turn we took wrong.   This narrow bridge changed the course of US history, most likely.

On the Road at Night

Submitted by Jeff Buster on Sat, 09/05/2009 - 16:33.

Driving at night on the interstates at 65 MPH is really pretty crazy.    Your vision is about a 1000xs less able to collect life saving data than in the daylight.

Is that a deer looking to go for a meal in the median?  Just a shadow in the asphalt or a 42 lb steel reinforced radial truck tire chunck?

Whatever...

Cruise control doesn't get scared and even falter a 1/2 MPH.

Paying to Pollute

Submitted by Jeff Buster on Thu, 09/03/2009 - 16:09.

Many times when you read about polluters, the motivation for  polluters is to save money - make more profit.  Water polluters do this by dumping toxins into storm drains, sewers, or watercourses.   Air polluters save money by discharging particulate and chemical pollution out their chimneys.

August wind, evocative smells, and childhood

Submitted by Jeff Buster on Sat, 08/29/2009 - 20:51.

I took Tucker out side just now and was almost overwhelmed with reminiscences of when I was 12, o4 13,

We had driven all day in the 41 Chrysler Fluid Drive, north of San Francisco, and as it became darker and darker my Mom would prod my Dad to find a place to camp.

But there wasn’t the right place with the right feng.

God Bless The Dunk, & Navy Mom

Submitted by Jeff Buster on Thu, 08/27/2009 - 18:11.

This image is a follow-on to the Microsoft Polish photoshopping discussion.  I have another US Navy Mom's image I am checking for in my external Hard Drive. Found it:

Where were these signs located? Was racial demographics a consideration/factor their creation/location?  If so, are such considerations negative/racist?

Appreciate the factory - past tense

Submitted by Jeff Buster on Thu, 08/27/2009 - 17:49.

It(legacy industrial sites becoming parks) will never happen in the US because of insurance, TV distraction, and corporate sports competition, but still, this event in an old East side Cleveland mill building is a push...in the right direction.  Please click on the link and read about the Ruhr experiences of Clevelander's which motivated this event.

NO TEXTING - Cleveland City Council's Hi water mark

Submitted by Jeff Buster on Thu, 08/20/2009 - 16:11.

Usually when Cleveland City Council takes action, it is to give away a public asset to a private corp.   This legalizes theft from the Citizens of Cleveland.

Zack Reed did  get one thing done.   At every road entering Cleveland City proper, there is a No Texting while Driving sign.   They are up because of the legislation Mr. Reed advanced and had passed.

Port Authority bond rating deteriorates ...

Submitted by Jeff Buster on Wed, 08/19/2009 - 18:26.

Here's the good news, because if the Port Authority is crippled, NEO will be more able to advance.  Sorry, Adam.  Thanks to ML for bringing this to my attention.

Recognize that wry smile?

I respect this guy's restraint and composure.

Will the community get their act together and be able to provide restitution?

New Mouse trap Phenomena - part 2

Submitted by Jeff Buster on Mon, 08/17/2009 - 16:07.

Seen one of these lately? I think I photographed the prototype in Toronto Harbor last year.  I will check my archives.   This photo courtesy Steve Killling, and the linked article is by Adam Mayers, Toronto Star

When is the last time you transitioned between displacement and planing?  Experience any instabilities?

Name my Ride

Submitted by Jeff Buster on Sun, 08/16/2009 - 19:23.

There really is a "new mouse trap" phenomina

I saw this fellow two summers ago (sorry about the slow report).

Name his ride.   And tell us how it functions.

Hint. They were not around when the Beach Boys popularized surfing!

Slavic Color

Submitted by Jeff Buster on Sat, 08/15/2009 - 19:54.
On the rail trail bike path in Slavic Village the bicycle Garden Tour folks passed a crew of four installing a new mural.

If you do it in the daylight it is art?
But if you do it in the dark it is graffiti?

Or is it the funding source?

No slight intended to this very vibrant mural or the installation team&hel

Biking to Community Gardens in Cleveland, Ohio

Submitted by Jeff Buster on Sat, 08/15/2009 - 18:21.
I am perhaps too tired to give the entire run down now, but suffice to say we took routes I never knew existed - those funky pedestrian trapezes over the interstate highways, paths through old neighborhoods, new rail road right of way bike paths.

Norm has been advocating urban gardening, and today the riders could see that it is beginning to take root!

Mayor Jackson visits Old Brooklyn Community Gardens

Submitted by Jeff Buster on Sat, 08/15/2009 - 17:53.

There may be several avenues available in pushing Cleveland ahead.

One might be to run against Mayor Frank Jackson.

Another might be to be hired by Mayor Frank Jackson - and rock the boat!

Wouldn't that be cool!

But in community sensitivity?

Off the bottom of the chart.  wAY off the bottom.  Toby. Sorry.

I guess they have an excuse.  They are doctors.  And pay no real estate taxes.

Thanks DM and SM for leads to this story.
