A recent report by the Pew The Pew Internet & American Life Project explores the attitude of artists to the Internet. The surprising finding: Artists and musicians are enthusiatic Internet users and they believe the Internet helps them make and sell their work.

According to the Pew report, 57% of Americans – 114 million – study, practice, or do some type of artistic activity, such as play musical instruments, sing, write, draw, paint, dance, act, make films, and so on. A smaller group of 32 million Americans consider themselves artists, and about 10 million of them get some kind of compensation for their creations and performances.
