Syrian
Ambassador to the United States since March 31, 2004, Ambassador
Moustapha previously served as dean of the faculty of information
technology at the University of Damascus and secretary general of the
Arab School on Science and Technology. He is cofounder of the Network
of Syrian Scientists, Technologists and Innovators Abroad (NOSSTIA) and
is an active consultant to several international and regional
organizations on science and technology policies in the Middle East. In
addition, he served as a member of the Syrian team responsible for
drafting reform strategies for the ministries of Culture, Education and
Higher Education.

An extensive writer with more than 200 published articles in
English and Arabic, he also has authored, co-authored and edited
several books and appeared on numerous television news programs and
shows in the U.S. and around the world. He is a co-author of the
UN-sponsored "Human Development Report in the Arab World." Ambassador
Moustapha holds a Ph.D. in computer science from the University of
Surrey, U.K.
