David E. Gilbert
President and CEO, Greater Cleveland Sports Commission

Reservation

Re-formed
in late 1999, Greater Cleveland Sports Commission is responsible for
attracting, promoting and managing amateur athletic events and creating
sporting opportunities for youth and amateur athletes. David Gilbert,
whose goal is to make Greater Cleveland the nation’s foremost
destination for amateur sporting events and activities, will discuss
the impact national sporting events are having on the community and his
organization's vision for the future.

In the past five years, the Sports Commission has secured more than
50 events for Cleveland, including the NCAA Women’s Final Four, the NBC
Gravity Games, International Children’s Games and U.S. Olympic Trials
Box-offs. These events represent an economic impact of more than $160
million for the area.

Prior to his current position, Gilbert served as director of
Community Affairs and Special Projects for the Convention and Visitors
Bureau of Greater Cleveland, executive director of North Coast Harbor,
Inc. and director of corporate development for The Cleveland Play
House. He is a board member of the "Cleveland Jewish News" and the
International Children’s Games, a member of the Leadership Cleveland
Class for 2001 and named one of Cleveland’s 40 under 40 by "Crain’s
Cleveland Business."
