POSTING (Private) EMAIL ADDRESSES, HOME ADDRESSES, & TELEPHONE #s TO REALNEO - NET etiquette to Consider.Submitted by Jeff Buster on Thu, 01/22/2009 - 15:55.
Recently there have been reports/posts on Realneo which contain email addresses of private persons, ie not government/public employee email addresses. Although it is certainly appropriate to post public employee’s public contact info, or the private email of a person who is on a public board and uses that email for board correspondence, or a private email, home address, telephone # if the owner has given permission, please keep in mind that there are valid reasons to not post private email addresses, private home addresses, and telephone #s.

WHEN WILL CLEVEHOGA REACH THE LIGHT AT THE END OF OUR "INVESTMENT" TUNNEL?Submitted by Jeff Buster on Tue, 01/13/2009 - 18:05.
Hawk, this photo of the inside of the Beehive School I went back and took for you. And in looking down the frozen hallway with the decaying paint and the broken windows against the west, my thoughts flashed to the many other interiors I'd seen like this in Cleveland. Why?

A COMMUNITY'S SENSE OF SELF-WORTHSubmitted by Jeff Buster on Sat, 01/10/2009 - 15:42.
The book lockers in the photo above are an example of simple technology on which tax money ought to be spent. These book lockers are also an example of how, in very simple ways, a local government can dramatically influence a community's sense of self-worth.

NICE AND FAIR IN NEOSubmitted by Jeff Buster on Fri, 01/09/2009 - 15:35.
One nice thing about Cleveland and Cuyahoga County is that they treat every citizen and land owner in the same fair and square way - when it comes to taxes, TIFs, subsidies, UDAG funds, building code enforcement, and “favors”. Fair and Square. With lots of sunshine thrown in. ( categories: )
GOOGLE PARTNERS WITH REALNEO!Submitted by Jeff Buster on Sat, 01/03/2009 - 14:08.
Recently I have taken a keener interest in how Google web searches are engineered, and in particular how Google searches for images on the internet.

THORIUM MANTLESubmitted by Jeff Buster on Thu, 01/01/2009 - 18:43.
Among animals, making light (outside their body) seems to be an occupation engaged in only by man. The photo above is of a thorium mantle incandescing white hot. Wikipedia has more info. Atom bomb, anyone? (about a million mantles and you could make one) ( categories: )
A DREAM FOR REALNEOSubmitted by Jeff Buster on Wed, 12/31/2008 - 20:47.
In the Late Fall of 2003 Norm Roulet, at the invitation of Ed Morrison, introduced the REALNEO social media concept using the open source Drupal platform to a crowd at REI in the Peter B Lewis building at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland Ohio. Until Norm’s introduction of Realneo, the REI forum had been (trying) to use wikis for their internet communication. I happened to be in that audience, and I logged onto Realneo as user No. 53 - four years and four weeks ago.

WHEN NO PROGRESS IS THE GOALSubmitted by Jeff Buster on Mon, 12/29/2008 - 22:12.
In November 2003 the first 2 Vestus wind turbines went up in Bowling Green, Ohio.
More than 5 years later Cuyahoga has nothing to show for itself - except "study" and DELAY.

WHICH PR FIRM CHANGED THE NAME OF THE OLD CLARK FREEWAY? WHO PAID THEM?Submitted by Jeff Buster on Sun, 12/28/2008 - 15:41.
Steve Litt recently wrote a piece enthusiastically plugging the NEW CLARK FREEWAY for his bosses at the Dirty Dealer covered by Susan Miller on Realneo.

glass house-Tremont West Development Corp-throwing stones?Submitted by Jeff Buster on Fri, 12/26/2008 - 14:47.
After reading one of Henry Senyak's September 2, 2008 post on Tremonter it appears, from the article written by Chuck Hoven, that the Tremont West Development Corporation had paid staff members canvas the Tremont neighborhood and develop a list of structures which the staff members claimed had building code violations..

MAKING THE CUTSubmitted by Jeff Buster on Thu, 12/25/2008 - 11:17.
Everyone has had the experience of trying out for a "team" and not making the cut .
And being left behind from where we wanted to go results in, perhaps, "taking the road least traveled". ( categories: )
WHY NO NEWS FOLLOW UP IN CIMPERMAN PORCH "ARSON"?Submitted by Jeff Buster on Wed, 12/24/2008 - 22:49.
In the weeks and months that have passed since Councilman Cimperman’s porch fire on July 28, 2008, there has been no further news of what caused the fire. Check the internet. There have been no arrests, and the FBI, the Cleveland Fire Department Arson Squad, and Mr. Cimperman have added nothing new about what caused the blaze. The impression left from the incomplete investigation is that Mr. Cimperman was most certainly attacked by an arsonist.

RHODESIAN CHROME AND THE LOS ANGELES RED CARSubmitted by Jeff Buster on Fri, 12/19/2008 - 21:20.
Today the Detroit BIG 3 claim that it is the credit markets which have caused their near bankruptcy. That is a lie. A Big Lie. Between the 4 dollar gas over the last few quarters, and the crap vehicles that Ford, BM and Hedge Fund Snow make- none of the THREE were selling any of their dogs - including Cerberus. And that was before October credit issues. The BIG 3 all have terrible Karma. ( categories: )

WATER MAIN BREAKS – A CLEVELAND GROWTH INDUSTRYSubmitted by Jeff Buster on Wed, 12/17/2008 - 12:56.
Tremont, other sections of the West Side, Downtown Cleveland, and a large portion of the East side of Cleveland were waterless this morning due to a water main break on Hamilton west of E 40th. But to see the number of media reporters on the scene, you would have thought there was real important news to collect. 8 TV rigs were there, and one of the cameramen was already talking overtime.

ED HAUSER BENEFIT TONIGHT@BEACHLAND 6:00PMSubmitted by Jeff Buster on Sat, 12/13/2008 - 19:22.
Ed never missed an opportunity to advocate for what he believed. Here we see Ed at a Meet the Bloggers on February 7, 2008. The Meet the Bloggers discussion, as I recall, was focused on the crazy 50 year City of Cleveland AmpOhio coal fired electricity contract. But never mind, Ed was educating the crowd about the Whiskey Island Bulk Terminal plans. There was a connection. ( categories: )

COLOR OTHER THAN CLEVELAND - PINKSubmitted by Jeff Buster on Tue, 12/09/2008 - 19:44.
Let's not forget that what we see here in NEO isn't what most people see - these flamingos have their heads under water pecking for brine shrimp - to keep their feathers pink. There is a world much sunnier, much bigger than Cleveland out there! This positive, upbeat viewpoint is dedicated to Frank Giglio who lost his house today.

TREMONT SOCIAL CAPITALSubmitted by Jeff Buster on Sun, 12/07/2008 - 16:54.
This morning two of my friends and I bumped into Frank Giglio in front of his home on West 14th Street, in Tremont (Cleveland), Ohio. Mr. Giglio pulled up along the sidewalk in his car while we were walking by (with Tucker, the dog). Mr. Giglio had a cup of hot coffee balanced in his lap below the steering wheel, and through the open car window I could see the steam rising up out of the half consumed coffee cup as we spoke. I felt kind of bad realizing that any conversation we had was going to result in that second half of the Sunday morning coffee being cold.
