The Gallery: Studio of 5 Rings will exhibit original abstract oil paintings from Elyria artist, Don Cox.  The show will open Friday August 1, 2008, and it will run through Saturday September 6, 2008.  The show will have an opening reception Friday 8/1/08 from 5:00pm - 9:00pm.  Don cox will be on hand to answer questions at the opening reception.

ALIXA & NAIMA as Climbing Poetree presents their 50 city tour Hurricane Season. The 2-woman show covers everything from environmental disaster, criminalization, racsim, military industrial complex, and corporate domination as well as other cultural/political factors through a tapestry of Spoken Word, video production, dance, shadow art, and a sound collage of personal testimonies.

Climbing PoeTree is the expression of a growing movement for radical social change. Poets,performers, print-makers, dancers, muralists, and designers, Alixa and Naima have sharpened their art as a tool for popular education, community organizing, and personal transformation. With roots in Haiti and Colombia, Alixa and Naima reside in Brooklyn and track footprints across the country and globe on a mission to overcome destruction with creativity.

Nancy ReddOn September 6, 2008 at 2PM, the Cleveland Public Library Fine Arts Department will present "Sounds of Jazz" on the 3rd floor of Main Library. Consisting of Reggie "Sax Man" Redd, John McComb on bass, Scott Wilson on piano, and Nancy Redd on flute and vocals, "Sounds of Jazz" will perform many jazz standards. Selections will include "What a Difference a Day Makes," "Summertime," "My Funny Valentine," "Misty," and many more. This performance is free and open to all ages. Come downtown and enjoy an afternoon of jazz music in the beautiful Main Library.
