In his State of the Union Address, President Obama promised that this year, for the first time, American taxpayers would be able to go online and see exactly how their federal tax dollars are spent. So today, we’re announcing the first-ever federal taxpayer receipt.

This is a tiny 5 megawatt nuclear reactor right in the middle of  Cambridge, Mass.   It has been in operation since the mid 1950's.  MIT wants to up it to 10 megawatts.

All the waste heat from the reactor is dissipated through the wet cooling tower - in the image above only the left half of the cooling tower is in operation.

Below is an email that I received regarding Cuyahoga County asking the question, "CAN WE COMPETE GLOBALLY? What is your opinion on this subject matter in light of historically business unfriendly issues in combination with the changes to our local government structure to the new Charter? What things do you believe will make our community more globally attractive to business investors at all levels? How do you feel about the small business entreprenuers in our community?

The Fukushima Dailchi nuclear crisis in Japan has been re-rated to be a level 7 nuclear disaster*, the same level as the Chernobyl Ukraine nuclear disaster of 1986. While the dispersement of radiation from the nuclear power plants in Fukushima is said to be much less than Chernobyl, the Tokyo Electric Power Company and Japanese civil authorities have yet to “stabilize” their troubled reactors. The future level of radiation contamination in Japan and nearby nations is unknown at this time as is how long this crisis will continue.

I have been noticing my gas guage on the vehicles I drive over the last few weeks like anyone else these days. With gas prices so high, who can afford to not watch their mileage and gas usage? A couple weekends ago, my dad came to visit in his vehicle too. It was running in perfect condition....

The city can require repayment if grant terms aren't met. But CMHA is confident it will meet its obligations.

I imagine the fuel purchasing administrator at Dayton Power and Light (DP&L) thought he was the target of a Tea Party April Fool's joke when he received an email first thing April 1, 2011, suggesting his Century-old, investor-owned, Ohio utility may lead an historic Constitution-oriented new American Revolution against taxation of his enterprise without honest scientific representation.
