Realneo needs more news like this - thank you Jerleen and apprentice

Submitted by Jeff Buster on Tue, 07/12/2011 - 17:48.

This is an image of what every culture needs to thrive and survive.  Young people who are happily learning and developing self confidence through the efforts of family and friends and teachers.

Very interesting quilt - I like the sheep and the dog.

Are all the thread ends tucked back inside?

Thanks for your smile!

Spherical flower - cephalanthus occidentalis

Submitted by Jeff Buster on Mon, 07/11/2011 - 20:39.

The image above shows cephalanthus occidentalis (button bush) at the end of it's flowing period.  Bumble bees are still in attendance.

Most of the seeds have left the center flower, leaving a very neat green ball.

Is there an advantage/disadvantage of this flower geometry over other flower shapes?

Realneo page visit statistics - FYI - on 6.29.11

Submitted by Jeff Buster on Thu, 06/30/2011 - 17:16.

Google analytics has a free software which they provide called Google Analytics.   Google Analytics has been running behind the face of Realneo for about 3 years.  From time to time one or another of the admins on Realneo has posted details, screen grabs, or other info from Google Analytics - either to make a point or just to inform the realneo audience regarding who is watching realneo.

Mass. Legislation attempts to force vehicle software into public realm

Submitted by Jeff Buster on Tue, 06/28/2011 - 21:05.

So you buy a car for $50,000.00 - that doesn't mean you get the software you need to monitor and fix it.   In fact you don't get that vital component of the product you purchased.   Instead, the dealers get the software - so you are a captive of theirs.

You really didn't buy all of the car, you just bought the part you can see.

Mowing the REAL way - with a sythe

Submitted by Jeff Buster on Mon, 06/27/2011 - 22:49.

This is my idea of good exercise.  And man it is exercise to use a sythe to mow. (image courtesy my friend Rich G.)

I think this is also an apt image - Realneo working with hand tools to mow the world while everyone else uses combines.  You get it? don't you?

Please relay your hand mowing exeriences for the rest of us.

If you are having trouble posting or commenting, Please refresh your cache. Text editor Module has been updated. Thanks

Submitted by Jeff Buster on Mon, 06/27/2011 - 19:53.

You can read about cache refresh here.

After a Realneo user brought it to my attention, I was dumb founded by the issue earlier today too.

Then I remembered Realneo is now running an updated text editor module.  Its recent installation was the reason your computer's cache needs to be refreshed - in order to load the new editor module.

Thanks for your interest in Realneo.

Frank Gehry - fun and very impractical - is Frank effective overall?

An evening visit to the Frank Gehry designed Strata Center on the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) campus in Cambridge, Mass. reveals a playful courtyard.

Reflections cast from the stainless steel shingles deform lighting in unusual ways - intriquing passerbys.

Goodrich Corporation announced on June 8, that it's Cleveland landing gear production facility would be closed in 2012 "due to program volume decline and the lack of appropriate new work to cost-effectively fill available capacity".

ODOT'S "PURCHASE" OF NORFOLK SOUTHERN CORP LAND AT $29.8 MIL FOR INNER BELT BRIDGE IS UNSUPPORTABLE

Submitted by Jeff Buster on Mon, 06/13/2011 - 11:47.

Norfolk Southern Corporation, the Ohio Department of Transportation, and Walsh Construction  of Chicago are involved in what I believe to be a bad faith transaction – the “purchase” by the State of Ohio of 50 acres of disused rail yard in Cleveland, Ohio.

ART IS WHERE YOU FIND IT

decomposed bree trunk as sculpture in the woods

During a winter hike I stumbled upon this spectacularly decomposed tree trunk.  Beautiful curves created by the still intact surface wood while the warm red core of the tree provided soft contrast.  This work must have taken a century or more...

I got back into the same woods a few weeks ago with my camera.

Banner images are challenging to create and fill important real estate on the Realneo homepage

Submitted by Jeff Buster on Wed, 06/08/2011 - 18:23.

The first thing anyone sees when they click on Realneo is the banner image.

Over the last few years the administrators of realneo spent many hours developing what they hoped would be catchy and meaningful images for the banner.   It does take some time to produce a banner image - at the fastest probably 15 minutes to 1/2 hour - at least for me.

Realneo - after our 2 week "time out" - is emphasizing CIVIL discourse

Submitted by Jeff Buster on Sun, 06/05/2011 - 20:23.

Today, 10.18.11, a bit of earnest and important Realneo went off into the ditch.   Would it be possible that certain recent comment dialogue be self-moderated and self-removed by the authors?  just askin....

Recently Realneo lost all civility and substantially abandoned any focus on facilitating intelligent community dialogue. For example, instead of advocating citizen journalism and respectful discourse, a great deal of time and effort was spent on ad hominem attacks between users of the site.

I'M JEALOUS!

Submitted by Jeff Buster on Mon, 05/16/2011 - 18:02.

 I'm jealous!

This wisteria is very elegant - a spectacular statement of stable care and stable occupation - matched subtly by the front door of this residence.

You can't buy this look - it has to be grown - with a lot of planning and patience.

So actually I am jealous of all the years of planning, the years of civility, which were necessary to allow this beauty to mature.
