Katrina: How Bush turned a natural disaster into a for-profit massacre

Submitted by Eternity on Sun, 08/30/2009 - 14:02.

Max Eternity - While the Bush response to the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina is most often cited as "inept", such a description inevitably sanctions Bush as patently stupid, though nonetheless innocent.

Tree down in Shaker Heights

As Jeff Buster reported on REALNEO, this summer there was some severe weather activity in the Shaker Heights area, where  my parents live, that took down a huge number of huge trees.

Clevelander Ann Trubek comments on "Growth in America's Dying Cities"

Submitted by Eternity on Mon, 08/24/2009 - 22:29.

Anne Trubek for Good Magazine - Civic leaders and artists are coming up with some interesting ideas, and often the line between the two groups is blurred. The perfectly-named Unreal Estate Agency in Detroit is aimed at showcasing “new types of urban practices (architecturally, artistically, institutionally, everyday life, etc) that came into existence, creating a new value system in Detroit,” including helping people purchase and rehab a home for under $5,000.

Swine Flu Swindle?

Submitted by Eternity on Mon, 08/24/2009 - 18:54.

Max Eternity - Remember Monkey Pox and Avian Bird Flu?  And what was the name of that flesh eating bacteria that was supposed to sweep the nation a few years back.  Oh yea I remember now--Ebola...remember that one?

It's all too bizarre.  And where do all these so-called diseases come from anyway?  But never mind that, because I've got an even better question to ask you.

Hello, this is a great site!

In 2008, the members of REALNEO.US formed REAL COOP, an Ohio legal cooperative, which now owns and operates REALNEO.US and REAL.COOP. We are unique in the world of social computing, and a global innovator in the evolution of information systems.

Will Allen's "A Good Food Manifesto for America"

Submitted by Norm Roulet on Fri, 07/10/2009 - 05:10.

Thanks to Laura McShane for posting this morning a comment linking to Will Allen's "Good Food Manifesto" on his Growing Power blog. I, and millions of other people, became aware of Will last Sunday, when he was featured in the New York Times Sunday Magazine article "Street Fighter", but folks who follow local foods best practices surely knew of Will long before.

Welcome to Real NEO; Open Source Capital of the Brightest Greenest State of Earth

Submitted by Norm Roulet on Fri, 06/19/2009 - 13:00.

Smartest Greenest Breuer

Over the past 20 years, I've spent most of my "professional" time as an entrepreneur, with world-class expertise conducting multi-dimensional, multi-client relational comparative data and best practice analyses of any aspects of the world's largest and best global enterprises, environments and systems, and developing and consulting on innovations and total quality improvement. This work has generated a wealth of knowledge on large general systems, with a unique expertise in information systems and telecommunications. REALNEO is a product of this highest level expertise, drawn from the best practices of the best organizations on Earth. What REALNEO has developed for Cuyahoga County - what has been generated out of the REALNEO-generated Real Cooperative - takes general systems innovation to a whole new level of making us the brightest greenest place on Earth. So, we really do have a purpose to Cuyahoga County owning the Breuer, and the vision is beautifully expressed in this great rendering above, to be REAL COOP citizen headquarters of the open source capital of this brightest greenest state of Earth.

Question of the Day: What Are The Odds That The MedCon Is A Con Now?

Submitted by Norm Roulet on Wed, 12/31/2008 - 05:06.

Jeff Buster's poll on REALNEO asking "If Peter Lawson Jones immediately withdrew his support for the Medical Mart Convention Center would his public career benefit?" motivated me to spend the time to explore the probability the MedCon is already dead, and our leaders will let us know that when they return from their vacations... and get the nerve. What do you think?

Ohio Film Industry - Other States Move Further, While Ohio Governor Rejects A First Step Ahead With His Veto

Submitted by Kevin Cronin on Fri, 12/19/2008 - 20:31.

In the same week that Ohio Governor Strickland vetoes a bill to create a tax credit for those creating film and video production jobs in Ohio, the Illinois Governor (yeah, that guy, the one who's been in the news lately), signed a bill to expand their 20% tax credit to 30%. Do you think he knows something that Governor Strickland does not?

30 Chambers of Commerce Adopt High-Skill Immigration Reform Proposal Created in Cleveland

Submitted by Norm Roulet on Thu, 10/16/2008 - 17:35.

I received the following from NEO's champion of immigration reform, Richard Herman, which sounds exciting. I am certainly for opening up national borders - I think any of us should be able to go and live wherever we want, whenever we want. I haven't read the policy recommendations, beyond what Richard provided, and I'm not sure a merit based point system and ""High-Skill" focus are right, but anything that opens up borders, rather than building walls, is a good thing.
